Could Caldwell pull another "Monroe"?

If we draft Sammy Watkins could Dave turn around and see what he could get for Blackmon? Is this likely at all?

He's on indefinite suspension.

I dont see us selecting Watkins.

Lots of good receivers in this draft and I also believe Caldwell does not value receiver as much as other positions. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl with Kearse, Tate, Baldwin, and Harvin.

Comes down to BAP. Watkins is not a bad player I would not rule him out as the pick

I don't think you can trade a player while he is suspended.

But caldwell came from Atlanta who moved up to take Jones to pair with White.

With a team that they believed was a receiver away from a Super Bowl.

Apparently Daniel Jeremiah from the NFL Network was on 1010XL and has us mocked to take Watkins. Said on the radio he's known Caldwell a long time from scouting and I don't recall exactly how he phrased it but something like he knows how much Caldwell values a guy like Sammy.

The time to trade Blackmon was last season after his performance in the RAMs game. At this point they'd be hard pressed to unload him. He's shown himself to be dishonest and an addict. He's got a lot of image repair to do before he'll become the kind of player a team would want to trade for.

I read the title of the thread and thought this was going to be about drafting Robinson and trading Joeckel lol.

Would not surprise me. Watkins is a blue chipper.

Wouldn't be mad about it at all. He's a beast, but I don't see WR at 3

Pretty sure you can't trade a guy who is suspended.

Yes, lets trade Blackmon for peanuts...

The same Blackmon who recorded the 3rd best game for a rookie in NFL history.

Forgive me if I don't take anyone seriously who thinks we should trade Blackmon.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

I doubt Blackmon is going to get traded.  He's worth more to us than getting a 6th round draft pick.  This isn't Blaine Gabbert we're talking about, Blackmon actually has some good NFL ability.

Blackmon has unreal talent, but the dude is toxic (literally). What good is first round talent if it's cooped up in a 6x9' cell? How many other names can we go through that were the same way? Loads of talent but enough off the field issues that they never even came close to realizing their full potential. It's sad, but it's what happens when you give kids a boatload of cash and a license to spend.

As always, I hope Blackmon get his life together, whether or not he ever suits up for Jacksonville again.

I don't think we should trade Blackmon, at least not yet. If he comes back and has a big second half of next season, there will be a trade market for him. Offloading him as soon as he comes back for a mid-round pick isn't my preferred course of action, but given that Blackmon was drafted by a previous GM and can't seem to stay out of trouble, it wouldn't surprise me.

Trading Blackmon makes no sense. First it's not possible, and second he has no value. If any WR is going to get traded it would be Shorts. Injury prone, going into the last year of his contract, and Caldwell hasn't shown much interest in bringing back inherited players. In the last two free agencies the only players he's retained have been Jason Babin, Brad Meester and Jordan Shipley.

they also traded a first to get Harvin and gave him a big contract, all teams value playmakers

If Dave takes Watkins, I don't see that impacting Blackmon's future in Jax.  This team has room for both, and would give the team needed weapons for a QB.  I don't see Dave trading away a playmaker such as Blackmon, on a team mostly void of playmakers.
