I dont know about overrated to underrated... however I do think Bridgewater has gone from improperly rated to properly rated. He is the most QB ready prospect in a class weak at the very top. And he doesnt have the highest ceiling of those at the top.

Why is his ceiling lower than anyone else?


Can he make every throw? Yes. That's all you need to be able to do if you want to be a top qb. Look at Brees. Average arm and small yet he is a top 3 qb. Every qb with sufficient tools has the ceiling of a top qb.

Well, partially correct.  The teams aren't changing their evaluations.  The issue is that the talking heads have no clue what they're thinking at the beginning of the process.  Not necessarily true as the draft gets closer.

 

What it's changing on, is based on getting a better idea of how teams actually feel about the guys.  Not just what all the amateur speculators think.

 

But is this really true?

 

How can you discern the legitimate critiques of a prospect from the contrived critiques promulgated in an effort to make a prospect fall?

 

How can you discern legitimate praise for a prospect vs. the attemps to bolster the trade up market for a team's pick?

 

How can you discern legitimate interest in a player vs. attempts to obfuscate a team's actual interest in players by examining these individual pre draft visits?

Bold #1 :Flat out pulled from your [BAD WORD REMOVED] and i doubt you have went back and tracked this in any way shape or form nor do you know what his reads are on any given play. Bridgewater is a master of hitting the sticks on 3rd down and carries the best 3rd down completion percentage of the big 3.

 

Bold #2 : Yet he won both of his bowl games and did so in stunning fashion. Nevermind the current NFL Qbs from small schools.

 

Bold#3 : You mean the corner routes he routinely hit? Or the deep comeback and deep dig routes he repeatedly hit in the 10-20 yard range? Ya know NFL routes that guys like Bortles and Manziel arent normally asked to throw.

Bridgewater:

 

Great footwork

Good accuracy (not as great on the deep ball)

Good pocket presence

Not afraid to stand in and take a hit

Needs a glove

 

 

 

Manziel

 

Has the "It" factor

Has a good arm

Questionable pocket presence

Questionable footwork

Dosen't shy away from the spot light (has confidence, which is important for a QB)

Is 5'11, seeing over linemen might be an issue.. especially if he's in a division against JJ Swatt. 

 

 

 

 

OVerall, I think Teddy is the safer pick, I do think Manziel has the talent to become a star but at the same time he could be a bust/1year wonder.

Going back to the throw in question the WR is open but he's late getting the ball out. If he was a spit second faster and the ball was thrown with a bit more velocity its a TD.


Maybe it is a weight distribution issue as the poster above suggested which will lead to lofted balls and reduced velocity. Even in that gif he seems to make the throw a bit flatfooted. If so its a correctable issue but its still an issue.

Even when he makes the right read and a defender isnt even there a lot of times he cant hit the wide open WR.

While im not on the " BRIDGEWATER TO THE HALL OF FAME" bandwagon, bad choice of games to use to make your case. Pretty sure ive watched some Manziel make his share of mistakes as well.
