That was posted earlier. Saying it and doing it are two different things.

The Browns could be bluffing. Not unlike them to play the arrogance card.

Not only that but owner is saying, "We want him to be a Brown for a long time."  If that's the case, why would they put a transition tag on him and not get a long term deal done?  Unless obviously, the feeling isn't mutual.

Quote:Its looking pretty unrealistic at this point. Who knows though. We really have nothing to lose by just offering him a contract. If they match then oh well.
The only thing is that if they match our offer, he won't be a FA next year. So, they should only offer him one if they feel like there's at least a chance the Browns won't match it.

Why wouldnt they wait until the deadline to make the offer?

Exactly. I still find it odd they did not just use the franchise tag. I know the last few years have been rough for Jaguar fans but at least we can see better days on the horizon. Since Cleveland has come back into the league, it's been like 15 years of the Gene Smith era.

Ahhhh.  Yes. The Past.. It Hurts.

But guess what.  It doesn't matter, it's in the past.

You are right, and we learned from that. NEVER AGAIN.

Why use the franchise tag? It cost more money and pretty much eliminates the possibility of someone offering him a contract that they can match and lock him down long term.

They want something long term with him and they will take it any way they can get it.

The transition tag works like a trap and they are hoping Mack and some team fall for it.

So, are the Jags gonna make an offer anytime soon?

There's a shocker.  Bklyn doubts something.

@JasonLaCanfora: Contract experts suggested offer sheets for Mack the Browns might not match. And I think the Jags could pull it off: http://t.co/e4yrEH5WPD

Pretty good read on this topic.

I like the idea of a short term contract that balloons in the Second Year. For Cleveland to match an offer, they are going to want it to be long-term. So why not give them what they don't want as a way to limit the possibility of them matching?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Very nice read and very good option. However, only if the contract is restructured afterwards to make it long term; which cannot be included in the contract. Quick, someone send this to Caldwell asap!! lol

Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!
