Bridgewater's struggles continue?!?

#21

Would love for him to drop to the second round, and for us to be able to swoop him up.  Looking more possible now, though I think he still goes in the first round.

Maybe he's the Anti-Gabbert.  Whereas Gabbert was a workout warrior, and terrible in games, maybe Bridgewater is terrible in workouts, and a game-time guru.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:No it's not because dan marino got a 13 on the wonderlic and big ben, david garrard and many others has low scores as well. Ya'll bridgewater haters are really reaching and trying to find reasons not to like him which is pathetic if you ask me. Oh by the way over belove Blaine Gabbert had gotten a 42 on the wonderlic so that tells a person what a score really dictates to a smart GM like Caldwell. The tape doesn't like and real football players are great at their craft.
Way to take a stand!

So where is the "pro day means nothing, and he will light it up at his private workouts" crowd now?

The "I really only care about what I see in actual games" crowd is here.

I guess this is your first draft, teams leak info to get players to fall to them, or I guess you would be happy with Jamarcus Russell since he had the best pro day of all time according to Mick Mayock

My comment was not a knock on Bridgewater! Just on the comments on here after his pro-day! My money says I did more scouting the first day of the off-season than you will do all year! Kind of like you said I was wrong in the qb thread, took your shot, then did not respond when proved wrong? Sorry things are not working out with your Teddy relationship, but how many times are you going to use the Russell had the best pro day ever line to try to make your point?

There are a lot of people that aren't impressed with with his game tape either. His tape is solid, but its not traditionally what I would call top 5 good. Heck I don't even think its worth a top 10 pick.

And though I am a Johnny fan, I think he would be a reach at #3 as well, but if we are going QB at #3 I would prefer Johnny's upside.

How is this possible when he is an Elway/Manning/Luck caliber, once-in-a-generation prospect?!?

You know, the absolute reason to intentionally lose football game for...I mean how else would we possibly be able to select him waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy down at number 3?!?

Laughing out loud...

I would love to take him at pick #39. IMO that would be a steal.

I don't think anyone would be opposed to that.

No problem with that! I dont think he lasts that long, still say 15-20 is perfect landing spot.

Teddy who?

If we don't take him and he slides into the 15-20 area I hope we trade back into the 1st.

Bridgewater's agent doing damage control:

Quote:For starters, McGuire says that Bridgewater has had only one private workout.  Which necessarily contradicts the notion that Bridgewater has had shaky workouts.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for journalists who work in this new age of media,” McGuire said via email.  “While I am certain this statement wasn’t intended to be misleading, it is my duty to remove and eliminate any doubt.   Teddy has visited multiple teams with more workouts and visits coming in the near future.  The assessment we received from the one workout was ‘simply amazing and sharp,’ and we expect nothing short or less than stellar in the upcoming workouts in the very near future.”

Not worth trading up for, I don't want to trade up, even for Johnny.

I rolled on the floor laughing, With all those missed reads in the pocket Manziel had to improvise. If he had just stuck to the play book (or just be Teddy Bridgewater) A&M would have been in the National Title hunt late

Quote:This is baffling to me.

How could he throw so well under game conditions and perform so poorly under workout conditions?

Mayock said he wasn't impressed when he went back and watched the game tape.  So I don't believe the kid has been given a fair shake from the beginning.  Too many people artificially inflating evaluations (and in turn expectations.)
