Bridgewater's struggles continue?!?

Quote:Why do scouts go to them then?

I've always heard people say they are completely irrelevant. If so, why watch it? If you're there to interview the kid then great, but why stick around to watch him throw?

And further why do teams bring in these guys for personal workouts? Why even work them out at all?

Don't you know? Its all irrelevant.. Its just an excuse for some coaches to get together and head to the nudie bar.. Bridgewater's urine soaked performance at his pro day was all stagged to throw off the texans from drafting him..

Quote:Now some unnamed NFC exc is leaking stuff out about Clowney lol, calls him spoiled and lazy, somebody want him to fall to them

<a class="bbc_url" href='http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/13/unnamed-personnel-exec-calls-clowney-spoiled-and-lazy/'>http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/13/unnamed-personnel-exec-calls-clowney-spoiled-and-lazy/</a>

So it was reported by NJ.com. The "unnamed NFC exc" works for either Philly or NYG. I'm sure the Giants would absolutely love Clowney to fall to them. Or at least fall enough to trade up for.

What is it with peoples' fixations on saying grown men are running around in their skivvies?

Why?

Does no one own a pair of gym shorts and they are such a foreign concept they choose to just call them underwear ?

What's the deal?

There's so much spin, both in this thread and in draft reporting in general, that it's hard to tell what's real and what's not anymore. Teddy haters take every bad report as gospel truth, Teddy supporters not only deny it entirely, but actually interpret the bad news as secret praise(ie, the team that bashes him actually wants him).

I for one don't take much stock in the 'bad reports'(no more than the latest bad reports about Clowney).

The only thing that throws me off and what I can't understand is the 'official response' by the agent...

Seems like the consensus around here is that many times a team that wants "said-player" will actually speak bad about that player, hoping he falls to them in the draft. Everybody does it, every team-GM knows about it, and it is apparently so easy to spot that even us lowly messageboard posters can identify it easily.

So why does Teddy's agent all of a sudden feel the need to publicly refute the 'fake reports'? I don't have an opinion, I'm just trying to reconcile both sides of the argument in this thread.

I mean, if the team who made the 'fake report' wants Teddy, and everybody around the NFL(including Caldwell) knows that it's fake, and everybody on messageboards knows its fake, then why the agent response?

I thought fake/bad reports were a good sign? Why is the agent so 'touchy' then?

Anyways, i just thought it was funny. These 'reports' were non-news to me....until Teddy's agent responded. Weird.

Draft-Day is truly going to answer sooooooo many unanswered questions. Still bet a hundred bucks that Teddy-Johnny are the top 2 QBs taken off the board tho.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Quote:You're right its exactly the same thing except for the lack of pads, helmets, pre-snap reads, 1500lbs of offensive line, pass rush, blitzes, coverages and route adjustments. Its basically identical.

If our scouts need an underwear practice to know if a QB has 'professional velocity', especially when they have over 1000 passes in actual games on tape, then we need new scouts.
LOL! He's not going to suddenly be able to make all the professional throws with all that going on when he can't even do it in underwear.

Underwear practices you are supposed to overachieve not underachieve. Some of you have your logic completely backwards.

I already said if he keeps screwing them up that's an issue, what that issue is I'm not sure because nobody who can throw just under 10,000 yards at any decent college should be messing that up on a regular basis. One bad pro day, pfft, whatever. Several and you start to worry there's a problem.

What I object to is this idea that this is the closest thing to pro football he has done because that's stoopid. He basically just did what me and my friends might do in the park and even we sometimes play a little coverage. He has thrown over 1000 passes in college games, you know in pads, with people trying to hit him and guys covering his targets, are we saying that not one of them involved attempting a 'professional throw' that we can assess, so this is what we will use barometer for an NFL QB? I really hope not.

Bold perdection Teddy falls in round 1, and becomes a so-so QB, depending on who gets him.I always thought he was overrated, however i also think people are wishing for him to fail and i think he will be a decent QB.

LOL at the Bridgewater fans trying to still defend him.  See it would be one thing if it was JUST the pro days, but if you actually watch the games you can see his arm strength is a real concern.  Yes at Lousiville he was able to mask it because he was playing against the scrubs of the American Conference.  WVU did the same thing with Geno.  Bridgewater is a 2nd or 3rd round guy.  I'd honestly rather have Garoppolo.

@nfldraftscout: I present you with the greatest QB comparison ever. An AFC North coach compared Bridgewater to...Willie Beaman. I'm not making this up.

Hot sports take.
