People seem to be under the impression that the QB we draft will start day 1. We are looking for a DEVELOPMENTAL prospect to groom at QB. Whoever we draft will have ample time to iron out any flaws and weaknesses he may have.

Honestly, TMD, that's one of the stupidest arguments you've ever made, which is probably why you hear nothing. Why won't Carr be selected #1 overall? Well, because there are probably 25+ players objectively better than him currently, not to mention team needs not accomodating a QB selection.

 

He's the 4th best QB in this draft, IMO. But that doesn't mean he stays there over his career.

 

His genetics have less than nothing to do with it.

 

I'm not saying that Carr won't just be avoided by the Texans at 1. They won't select him at ALL, as in he's not even on their draft board.....and with the Carr bloodlines being 90% of the reason why.

Yep. Had the Texans not had the whole debacle with his brother, David Carr would still be on their 2014 draft board, still low of course, because he's barely draftable, but there nonetheless. 

 

I think Carr gets drafted either by the Vikings or Raiders.....which makes perfect sense, given those 2 franchises futility at the position over recent years. He'll continue that tradition. 

 

Garoppolo will be a Jag at some point in this draft.

The way I think about it is this.

If we get a QB at #3(presumably Teddy or Johnny), they'll start first day. the quicker they get acclimated the better.



If we get a QB in the second round or later(everybody else), they'll sit for half the season and then come in to 'save the day' after Henne implodes.

Even if he's a first rounder.

If our GM believes that a QB sitting and developing him will automatically make him better, then we're in trouble.  However, I don't see him saying that.  He said that this draft class may need some seasoning -- that doesn't mean that he sees every QB as someone who will develop given time to sit.  He may like Garopollo.  He liked Matt Scott too.
