Donald Trump interested in purchasing the Buffalo Bills?
|
Quote:It happened 30 years ago when they were trying to break the monopoly the NFL had on TV rights. Trump wanted to take the USFL to the fall to go head to head with the NFL. They won the lawsuit, but it killed the league. There are a few owners still around, but the majority won't care. Can he bring more money to the league? That's all that matters.I'm not sure it would be that simple. You said it yourself; he helped torpedo an entire football league in a bid to sue the NFL, and emerged victorious with all of $3.76 to show for the USFL's efforts. That alone will raise questions in the approval meeting room. He would certainly be a fun owner to watch, though, and I'm sure Bills fans are already lining up around the block for him to take the team because of his promise (that I'm not certain I believe) to keep the Bills in Buffalo. Donald Trump owning the Bills would be bad for the league.
The man isn't the businessman he presents himself to the world as. The man makes his fortune by playing with Bankruptcy laws -- by his own admission. I know he's fooled a lot of people into thinking he's better than he is -- hopefully that doesn't include the business savvy owners in the NFL. He's had at least three companies go through bankruptcy, costing him half of at least two of them. (I'm not sure about the third). His investors have pretty much booted him from management because of his failures. The guy is a conman wearing a ferret on his head. How he continues to fool people is beyond me. Sure, he's more successful than me. So was Bernie Madoff. If he gets it, I wonder if the Bills will be able to file for Chapter 11.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

That alone will raise questions in the approval meeting room. The newer breed of owners in the NFL are only concerned about the bottom line. Guys like Jerry Jones will welcome the Trump circus to town. I think if he's serious, he can get the necessary support. That being said, I'm not sure he's serious. Half the time Trump does stuff like this, it's about self promotion. That may be the case here. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
The Bills are trash and so is Donald.. Match made in the armpit of New York called Buffoonalo.. The only time I backed Donald is when he went after that frodo baggins lookin chewed up she-man hobbit who calls himself Rosie..

Quote:Paul Allen is light years ahead of anyone else, if I remember correct isn't shad richer than jerry jones aswel? Yes. And it's not even close. As for Trump, I would be surprised if he actually goes through with it.
He'd have to divest himself of the two casinos in Atlantic City. I'm not sure he'd be willing to do that.
Buffalo doesn't have a lot of good options right now. Bon Jovi and his Toronto investors would most likely move the team eventually. And, then there's Trump. Let's see what other players jump into the mix. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Much like his non-existent presidential campaigns, it's all about Trump keeping his name in the news.
With the team in dire need of a new stadium, this is going to be a unique situation. I think the new owner will need to committ to the Buffalo market but that will be impossible without a new stadium. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Donald Trump owning the Bills would be bad for the league. Bingo. Even if he were to just get the preliminary approval, I'm just betting that he won't make it past the "let us have a look at your books" stage. Trump has notoriety, but nothing close to the business savvy that he is perceived to have by some.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Quote:Donald Trump owning the Bills would be bad for the league. I agree with this post. I know he isn't the only one like this, but if I was voting, I wouldn't vote him into the league. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Trump has the ability to become an NFL owner financially. It's the other stuff that may prevent that from happening, and in the end, all this talk is probably just a big publicity stunt.

Quote:Trump's issues with the NFL are ancient history, and really, it was the USFL that filed an anti trust suit against the NFL. Not Trump.True, but he spearheaded that charge.

I don't think he gets it.

There aren't a whole lot of owners still around from that era. I don't think that will have as much of a factor in whether he lands the Bills or not as his dealings since then. Bankruptcies and other unsavory business dealings are no doubt going to have more of an influence here than anything else. The casino ownership won't help either. Never argue with idiots. Quote:True, but he spearheaded that charge. He tries to dispute that notion. http://m.nbcsports.com/content/trump-thinks-usfl-misadventures-won%E2%80%99t-hurt-his-effort-buy-bills
