Quote:Oh my, there is quite a difference between talking smack on a message board and what people did in the real world as decision makers from FSU.

My comments on here have very little to do with what I would have done if I was an AD.
And you criticize those who support Jameis to win games yet you are doing the opposite because it is your rival. It's the same thing, just opposite side of the fence. There is talking smack and then you get to a point where you cross the line.

Quote:It is. And Jameis has had other people attack him as well. We just don't know what happened which makes it tough.
And this is correct no one knows what happened. I guess my thinking is I lived in Tallahassee and I know the culture there as far as the college scene goes and this isn't the first time something like this occured.... Possibly not the last. People have to just stop making assumptions because something was said. No one knows what really happened.

There used to be a twitter page called FSUCleatChasers and she tweeted that. She also begged members of the basketball team to hit her up before she deleted her twitter account.

Ya, maybe she is a liar, but the school and the police still made it clear that uncovering the truth could wait.

I still don't get this notion of the TPD "covering this up." The TPD has a history of not catering to FSU football players. They don't do them any favors.

One of the most liberal schools in the country (Berkeley) has the most reported sexual assualts.

The story is really about how the Tallahassee police are corrupt/incompetent.  neither of which are good.  So they could have easily bungled this case but Jameis could still be innocent.

And on the flip side, this girl could be a total skank, but that doesnt mean she couldnt have been raped.

I just know that far, far more women get raped and are too afraid/ashamed to come forward then there are stories of woman publicly and falsely accusing an innocent guy.  So my initial gut reaction is to believe the side of the woman.  And when I hear the police department completely botched the case, that doesnt help sway me in the opposite direction.

So after:

-Her friends tell authorities her story is BS

-Rape kit showed there was no rape

-failed to identify Winston

-repeatedly changing her story

-low BAC and no drugs found in system

-No semen on vaginal swabs

-Questionable DNA found on her face after she claimed no oral sex occured

-Another set of DNA other than Jameis' was found on her panties

Your gut feeling is to side with her? Again, makes sense.

She identified him that January

There was semen in her underwear

Most people on this board would never know what a woman would go through if she were raped...she could have been confused, scared, etc.

You guys rip on badger for having a slanted Gator view, but yours is just as equally slanted to the Seminoles.

No she didn't. Her initial description described the person as a 5'11 245 lb male. I've stood next to Winston, and he's every bit of 6'4.

Did you read this article?  It's how the cops identified him.

I am not going to pick sides.....

But I will say it needs to get in the head of these athletes that you sometimes just need to say NO to these type of encounters. It will start to hurt their pockets, because unfair as it is PERCEPTION will be reality for them.

@BigJohn I don't think you can say either way if she is lying because of her story changing. All we know is that we don't know what happened. Depending on how the questions were asked to her could determine how she responded initially, esp after what she claims was rape.

It's easy to say that in hindsight but when you are a college kid and you are just playing a game you have loved since a child and are not getting paid at the current moment, how are you to know someone could be possibly targeting you? What if someone is showing a genuine interest in you at a stage of you career when their are no monetary ramifications, how do you properly assess it then? How as a young man are you to tell the difference between intentional fun and motive? Older people with much more to lose and gain have trouble deciphering these situations.... he is 19

He doesn't, but I definitely wouldn't be going to bars when I am not old enough to drink for starters......

Yes he is a kid, but he is also a potential #1 overall pick. And maybe it is unfair that he has to act more mature at an earlier age, but he has to. All of them do. And I wasn't just referring to him.

Look at Kaepernick. At some point you have to realize if I am seen in a negative light, then it could affect my marketability. That's just common sense when your future pretty much guarantees millions of dollars.

Thats what was on the police report.  She had reported to others 6'2.  When she had her urine and blood taken, it was sitting around for a month and a half before it was even sent to the lab.  The police totally botched it.

She didnt identify him right away.  A month or so later she went back to the cops and said she figured out who it was.  Which to me is odd.  If she is lying this whole time and the sex was consensual, whats the motivation to call some rape crisis hotline, then go report the rape to the cops, but pretend like you dont know who the guy is?  And then a month later decide to go back to the cops and say she figured it out who it was?  If she was completely coherent, she would have known who it was, so why not report it to the cops then?

The NYT article does a great job at pointing out why things were going to be extremely difficult for the accuser to get justice if in fact she was raped. The police department made it as difficult as it could have been for them to do so. Sloppy isn't a good adjective to use in how they bungled the case as a whole.

The interesting thing to me was the revelation that there was another woman who got counseling after a sexual encounter with Winston, saying there was something about it that made her uncomfortable, and she needed counseling for it.  At that point things are getting pretty creepy.   If I was about to draft this guy, I would wonder what kind of person I would be getting.   Is there something weird about Jameis Winston?

The second woman had consensual sex with him, but something about it creeped her out so much she went for counseling.

Something's up, guys.   Something weird going on with this guy.
