I think one of these 2 guys will be our pick in the 2nd round.

#1

Jimmy Garopollo/AJ McCaron

I just can't imagine Caldwell taking a Qb in the first..

I like AJ and think he has a chance to make it in the league. I would hope that if we drafted him that it would be no earlier than the 3rd. The draft is too deep for AJ to go that high.

While QB is a huge needs do you really take one of the above if any of these are on the board:

Sua'Filo

Van Noy

Benjamin

Matthews

Fuller/Dennard

Tuitt/Nix

Martin - ND

Ford

List could go on....

To be fair, more than half of those guys will be off the board at 39...but the point remains. If 3 is too high to take QB because guys like Sammy or Mack are just better, then the same argument would be even more powerful because the non QBs in the 2nd round will be > Garoppolo/Murray/McCarron/Mettenberger/etc by far more than Sammy and Mack are > Teddy/Bortles/Carr/Manziel.

It would not surprise me to see Garoppolo taken before the Jag's second pick.

It would surprise me. He is starting to remind me of Nassib last year.

Ehh If we go QB in the 4th it should be Fales over Boyd. Better at reading defenses, more accurate, played in a more pro style offense and was asked to do more in terms of reads and progressions and same level of physical toughness though i give a big edge to boyd in leadership and big game poise.

Boyd i would like if we took 2 Qbs one  in the 2nd (Mccaron/Mettenberger/Carr) or 1st (Bridgewater/Manziel) and then him in the 5th. His athletic ability and competitive nature are my favorite Boyd attributes.

I don't like any of these QB's at 2nd round. Maybe a late 3rd round to Garopollo at best .

I dunno Swag. I feel Jaguars are going big this year. You think of how much other teams in similar situations to us have done at the QB position over the last season or two, and you realize that we have done virtually nothing. Either our coaching staff is very lazy at the QB position, or we are putting all our eggs into one basket(haha, +1 for me for adding Easter pun).

Jets draft Geno last year, snag the biggest QB free-agent this year Michael Vick

Raider already have Pryor and Mcgloin, pick up Shaub this offseason

Vikings at least tried with picking up Cassel and then Freeman

Chiefs picked up Smith when he became available

Bills drafted Manuel

Buccaneers drafted Glennon last year, take McCown this year

Eagles who need very little help at the QB position took Sanchez

Browns brought in Hoyer

I'm sure there are a ton more, that' just off the top of my head at the moment.

During this same period of time, Jags draft not a single QBs in any round last year, don't even try for any QBs in free agency this year or last. It's like they are totally oblivious to the QB market. They've made a number of big moves in trade/free agency/draft at RB, OL, WR, etc, etc. But nothing at what many deem the most important position on the field. Either we have the laziest, most oblivious coaching brass when it comes to QBs(which I don't believe for a second), or they have been waiting, biding their time, gonna make a big splash this year. At least that's my interpretation/hope Wink  lol.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

From Walter Football's latest 1st round mock, at the #3 position (for what it's worth, they got the most first round picks right of anybody I saw last year):

"TRADE! The Vikings are primed to trade up for Blake Bortles, as Charlie Campbell reported. While a move to No. 2 is more likely, there's a chance Minnesota can swing a deal with the Jaguars. It's been reported that Jacksonville loves Jimmy Garoppolo and wants to wait until Round 2 to take a quarterback, so the team probably would be very willing to move down, especially if both Jadeveon Clowney and Khalil Mack are off the board."

It's hard to get excited about either of the two, as they both are developmental backups at this point.
