Most popular players by state.

#1

Don't get mad or turn this into an argumentative thread guys. No need to. It's just interesting stuff iMO

BestTickets.com did a study using Google search volume data, to create a chart illustrating the most searched-for athletes in each of the 50-states. Not surprisingly, Lebron James dominates in 23 of the 50 states, with Manning claiming 7 for himself. Only one non-pro athlete appears on the entire list, and does so in the biggest state in the country. Manziel in Texas.

No guys, of course this doesn't mean we should draft him just because he's popular. I just thought the chart would be of some interest to Jags fans. Pretty sure that any NFL team would die to have any of the football-related names on this list on their team. Same goes for basketball, etc. And since there IS one name in this list that we might be able to get in the draft, I thought this was interesting.

Again, no need to argue. I'm just putting it out there, just take it for what you will and however you want.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

If it reaffirms anything, it is this:

While the NFL >>> NBA

NBA stars >>> NFL stars

Interesting perspective. I didn't think of that. Is it because NBA can sometimes be more of a 1-player sport with the Jordans, Durants, Lebrons, Bryants, etc? Whereas NFL the ultimate 'team sport'? I guess there are more standalone 'stars' in the NBA.

Geez, Lebron James is popular.  Surprised RGIII isn't Maryland's most popular player though.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Anyone else surprised Adrian Peterson has 4 states?

Not really. Only because I have spent time in South Dakota on business and most of the people I worked with are die-hard Vikings fans. They are a huge draw in that region.

Poor West Virginia.

Geno Smith as WV's most popular player is also surprising.  I suspect it was probably Randy Moss at one time though and Hot Rod Hundley back in the day.

Tiger dominates in Vermont?!?! That kind of strikes me as odd.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Not sure what the date range is on the sample size, but I assume it includes a good bit of the leadup to last year's draft. Which would explain Geno Smith/Manti Teo. Also probably the time leading up to Wiggins college committment. I doubt if you pulled current data that any of the three would appear.

I also assume the Kobe searches spiked after his injury last year. Same with Derrick Rose.

They aren't searching her for the tennis, if you know what I mean.

If that were true, why isn't Anna Kournikova or the other models/players up there?
