Raiders trading/releasing Pryor

Thomas is a QB.  Just saying.

Not saying he's an accurate one, but he's a QB at least.

As far as athleticism...

All Pryor has on Thomas is straight line speed (4.4 vs 4.6.)  Pryor is not nearly as good an athlete as some advertised.

Thomas also threw 60mph at the combine.  I'd rather give him a shot with a late round pick than someone who's already been given a shot and failed.  Thomas comes from a program that doesn't prepare QBs for the NFL, so I fully expect him to be overdrafted on his ideal measureables alone.  I wouldn't be surprised if a team who already has a QB picks him up 2-4 with the plan of developing him slow.  Who knows what he could be come, since he hasn't been developed at all in college.

Thomas is not a good QB, and he wont be better in the pros imo. He was average in college if you look at his numbers. What QB was not too good in college but then became good at the pro level?

Pryor is not that good, but he is athletic. If you saw his games last year, he made plays scrambling. He has more than straight line speed. His numbers in college as a passer were not great, but better than Thomas.

Is it just because VT cant coach? Idk, I would not want to take that risk earlier than the 5-7th round.

Pretty much.

Guys with all the measurables that should be playing somewhere other than QB.

Pryor is faster and quicker, but I'd want neither taking a snap as my QB

They aren't a pro style offense and won't be as long as Beamer is there.  He's ball control, option based.  It's not a system that lends QBs to NFL readiness.

I would give him a shot once he hits the market. If he's really wanting to compete for a starting job, this would be the place to be. Cleveland will be looking at him first though.

Give him a shot. We would then have Henne,Pryor and the rookie we draft. Just a thought. Cleveland will be all over him says my buds from Cleveland.

A bit surprising indeed. Traded to Seattle for a 7th rounder. Probably a win-win situation. Oakland got an extra draft pick for a guy they were going to release and Seattle takes a flier on a backup QB who can play a slash role.

I'll play devil's advocate for a moment...

So now the question is, if we are supposed to be Seattle South, why didn't we get into the mix? If Seattle saw value in someone like Pryor (who already has an established veteran backup QB) why wouldn't we, considering our gaping hole at the position, both starter and backup?

COuld it be the Seahawks just want a more mobile back up QB to be able to run their type of offense with the 2nd stringers? So they gave up a 7th rd pick to help prepare their backups better sounds like a win win to me.

Maybe because we didn't have a draft pick low enough to be considered fair value.

You do realize they made the lowest possible trade for him?

Do they still have Tavaris Jackson? I remember him tearing our D up last season after they sat Wilson .

I think you lack perspective.

It's pretty much the same as the 49ers deal for Gabbert.

Two teams with everything, giving next to nothing to kick the tires of castaway QBs that rebuilding teams like the Jaguars have zero use for.

What a shocker.

The Super Bowl champs can afford to take a risk on a player.
