The Jaguars want a pass rusher "badly" according to Peter King

Quote:Jevon Kearse ran in the 4.4's and was bigger/ just as athletic. THAT's a physical freak of nature. Hell, Ware was more physically impressive and was drafted outside the top 10. Mack's is not all that impressive for his size. Plus, theres the small school thing. One game vs Ohio state don't prove anything but one game. We don't know that he'll be able to be dominant at the NFL level on a consistent basis. As said, if we trade down and then select Mack, at least we'd be getting some value. Selecting Mack at 3 would be dumb. We'll agree to disagree on what constitutes a freak athlete, I will add this. Anyone that played sports would appreciate the ability of a 250 LB man that runs a 40 in the 4.5's and jumps 40 inches, I've been around some freaky athletes, Mack’s athleticism is on another level. Back to the small school argument, yes he played against lower competition, but he absolutely dominated that competition, the same way Demarcus Ware dominated while at Troy, and you simply can't discount the dominant game he had against Ohio State, he flashed a trio of skills (edge speed/power, hip flexibility, man/zone coverage skills) that are rare, the play where he blew up the OH State RT (I believe he's an NFL prospect) on his way to chasing down Braxton Miller was ridiculous. I believe he's an immediate impact game changing player in the NFL, we'll wait and see who’s right. Mack at 3 overall would be beyond stupid. So why would drafting Mack be "beyond stupid"? Since you're obviously an expert in the realm of all things beyond stupid
Quote:Amazing how one game against USC proves that Derek Carr will be a bust, though. If it was "one game" without the added bloodline issue, then yeah, perhaps you'd have a point. I'd throw away the one game example if he didn't also carry the other baggage.
Quote:So why would drafting Mack be "beyond stupid"? Since you're obviously an expert in the realm of all things beyond stupid I've already said why. Value. You'd be leaving some on the table with a pick of Mack. If you cannot understand the concept of value in the draft, then looks like you shouldn't be casting the "stupid" stones. Quote:lol, he always contradicts his own statements more than anybody ever No actually I don't. People are quick to try and accuse that with selective pieces of info, though. But it never really correlates to the entire premise. They always leave some important aspect out in their haste of tripping over themselves to accuse a perceived contradiction.
TMD,
Apologies in advance if I missed this, but you indicated that Mack has the value of a pick 10-12. Who are the 10-12 players in this draft you would say is better? Could you list them? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:No actually I don't. People are quick to try and accuse that with selective pieces of info, though. So basically, my comment was invalid because I left out the totally idiotic argument that Derek Carr is doomed to fail because he's David Carr's little brother, just like Jordan Palmer and Jordan Rodgers were guaranteed success by their brothers' careers, right?

Well, when Carr's specific flaw is very similar to that of his brother's....uh, yeah. But continue to act like it doesn't exist. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:TMD, Clowney Matthews Bridgewater Manziel Watkins Gilbert Barr (as a pass rusher - which is essentially what we're looking for from the player) Evans Ok, thats 8. I'm having trouble putting Mack below someone like Lewan. So, maybe 9 overall is where I see his value. I might have overestimated saying 10-12. But still, 9's far from 3 when you're talking top 10. Quote:ClowneySo there must be some serious flaw in Robinson you see that few others dont?

Quote:So there must be some serious flaw in Robinson you see that few others dont? Robinson's lack of elite pass blocking knocks him out of the top 9. He's a great run blocker, but IMO, you have to be both top level in both pass & run blocking to earn a spot in the top 5-10. Quote:If it was "one game" without the added bloodline issue, then yeah, perhaps you'd have a point. I'd throw away the one game example if he didn't also carry the other baggage. Lol "bloodline issue"
Quote:Lol "bloodline issue" David's issues are/ were directly the same as Derek's.....crumbles under pressure. So yeah...."bloodline issue". If Derek was actually strong in that area that David Crumbled in, then perhaps citing bloodlines would have less merit. |
