Mike Mayock: I wouldn’t use a first-round pick on Teddy Bridgewater
|
Quote:I agree with that statement, but this thread is about Teddy Bridgewater. I don't know which player you're referring to.Haha nice, I agree. Teddy's arm is plenty strong. His problem, however, is he struggles with accuracy on the deep ball. A lot of the time, he will actually overthrow his target. When throwing over roughly 30 yards, Teddy changes his quick throwing motion to a slightly more elongated motion. I think a year on the bench would help Teddy with the Jags. He would have time to bulk up and learn to keep his quick release. Teddy has the brain and awareness to be a very good NFL QB. I think he is the best QB prospect, but I think picking him at 3 is a slight reach. Then again, if the team thinks he is a franchise QB, then it is not a reach at all. Keep in mind, Caldwell was on a staff in Atlanta that drafted a guy many said would be a game manager, which caused Ryan to slide into their lap at 4. That has worked out pretty well for the Falcons, I would say. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote: Haha nice, I agree. Teddy's arm is plenty strong. It fell on deaf ears of course, but here is a short article again explaining why UL's 'backwards' offensive system could very well be the culprit. http://draftchargers.creanium.net/the-re...deep-ball/

Quote:Sounds good, and if we draft Manziel...I'll probably buy our second rounders jersey lol. Teddy Bridgewater? Quote:I tried to shed some light on to a very possible reason why this is. I don't think I have heard that opinion before.

That's how I know how much time he spends doing something...because it came out of his own mouth. And like I also said (and have said many times about Mayock in other threads), he has been in decline for years and Teddy has nothing to do with it. I really don't get how dense and illiterate some of you all are at times... You act like this is brain surgery. How much tape can you watch? You want to brag that you watched 8,000 hours of tape, therefore ... These are human beings who will be put into a system interacting with others. You don't know who the best or worst of anything is. Replace some players in a certain situation and you might end up with a similar result. I don't know why you, and a few others on here, get so involved with some of these guys. Are you so desirous of some sort of affirmation that you want to pick a player, hope everything somehow works out, and then come back on here to say how smart and cool you are? It's not that important. It's an opinion that can never be proved or disproved.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Quote:Did he just say he'd rather draft Carr & McCarron before Teddy?? Should have made this more clear. Taking into account where we would have to draft them I would rather have Carr or McCarron.
Quote:Should have made this more clear. Taking into account where we would have to draft them I would rather have Carr or McCarron. Oh, because the way you had it worded before it sounded like you meant just overall.
for the record, I think Mayock is wrong about Teddy. I still think he's the second best(arguably the best prototypical QB), and will definitely go in the first round. If not, it's a travesty.
That said, I feel the 'Mayock character assassination' in this thread is not only because of his words against Teddy, but his words for someone else.... Quote:Mike Mayock has been the go-to NFL draft guru for a decade now. And in those 10 years, Mayock has never seen a more intriguing or clouded quarterback draft.
I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

He get's paid to use a predetermined narrative. He's no different from Limbaugh or Maher. Johnny football is the chosen star, for an obvious reason. The same tactic is used in politics. The candidate with the most media coverage wins.

Quote:To be fair, Mayock and the rest of the talking heads are probably the best in the business. Their predictions are on "odds". If they were right 100% of the time, there would never be any speculation and drafts wouldn't be as exciting as they are today.Watch any of his old tapes. He had bust written all over him. Zero pocket presence and no touch. But he sure is a looker. 6'5 cannon arm blonde hair. They ignored major flaws and fell in love with measurables. Btw I still like Teddy a lot. Maybe all this talk pushes him to 39. Quote:To be fair, Geno was showing a lot of stuff down the stretch of last year that would suggest a top pick would have been warranted. He was SO impressive they brought in a free agent to compete, impressive. |
