Thoughts on QB Blake Bortles?

It's a cliché.  "He's got the size, strength, bla blah bla".  It means nothing, but every year scouts obsess over it.

Not really.

Bortles sucks. Gino Torretta 2.0

Quote:Fears pressure. Not to the extent of Gabby but it's there.

Old post...don't care.  Have read this alot...not sure why.

Best completion percentage of any QB in the draft against pressure and the blitz.

Well, not really "best"....I'm pretty sure that Teddy Bridgewater had the best completion % against the blitz. I remember reading that on some QB metrics in the months leading up to the draft. It was something crazy too, like over 70%.

The best part I like about Bortles is he wants to prove to everyone that the Jags were right about picking him at 3. Can't ask for much than that.

You're right.  Teddy was better against the Blitz.  But Blake was better against pressure.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I don't know why I thought he feared pressure. Must have been grasping at straws trying to find faults in these upper-tier QB's because I never thought we'd pick a 1st round QB and was trying to make myself feel better. Hah.

Oh, yeah....its not like Bortles was poor vs the blitz or anything.....I just knew that I remembered that correctly about Teddy being tops in that category.

IMO, the highest "floor" of the big 3, but maybe not as high a ceiling as Manziel.

Not sure he's top 10 material in my ridiculously amateur book, but should be among the first 2 QBs off the board.

Like all the QBs in this draft, a QB I'd sit at least a year in a perfect world.

Wouldn't bring the buzz or excitement of a Manziel selection, but a lot safer.

Best case - Big Ben sized Drew Brees?  Worst case - Josh Freeman?
This is interesting. What part of his game is similar to Drew Brees?

The color of this skin on his throwing arm.

A Big Ben sized Drew Brees sounds like a top tier HoF quarterback lol

Actually a Big Ben sized Drew Brees is basically a more athletic Peyton Manning.

Some have suggested he may not have elite arm strength (which unlike Brees could be improved through better footwork,) though he's extremely accurate throwing on the run.  His deep ball accuracy is also very good.
