I think it's sad that Manziel is even thought of as half the QB Teddy is, Teddy is a QB, Manziel is a RB who can throw to 6'5 WRs after scrambling around for 5 minutes.

As far as knowing something about quarterbacks? Both Super Bowl XXXVII starters, Oakland's Rich Gannon and Tampa Bay's Brad Johnson, worked recently under Gruden. Gruden re-tooled Rich Gannon. Would have made a Super Bowl if it hadn't been for the Tuck Rule. In Super Bowl XXXVII, Gruden used his knowledge of Gannon against him. Rich threw five interceptions, three were returned for Bucaneer touchdowns, Gannon was sacked five times.

 

Former Jaguars QB Mark Brunell was gracious enough to credit Gruden partially for his own development at a NFL passer. In fact, Gruden wanted Brunell in Philadelphia where Ray Rhodes had made Jon his offensive coordinator. The deal was done except Mark wanted shorter terms. That's why Tom Coughlin was able to get him here.

I don't know Teddy's situation personally, but it seems to me he probably walks around somewhere around 210.  Someone at that weight will fluctuate between 208 and 214 from day to day.  It's normal.  He's gained 20 pounds in a year since his jaw surgery.  He's doing fine.  I have no doubts he'll be over 220 as a playing weight by this time next season.

No, actually I said IF we could trade back and still get him, we should seek one. Only Caldwell knows via his inside sources what the general feeling is amongst his peers regarding where Bridgewater will fall to. I personally have listed He, Manziel, Matthews and Clowney as the 4 players that I would be okay with selecting at pick 3 - Because I see all 4 as proper value at the pick given how good I think all 4 will be as pro's.

That's funny, because had you said that last week, I wouldn't have wasted my time arguing with you about this.

 

The whole point I was trying to make (and others) is that nobody knows what other teams have Teddy valued at.  

 

I said if you like him like you do, and he's available at 3, you pick him.  You specifically said that taking Teddy at 3 wouldn't be good value because it appears that he's fallen.  Many tried to tell you that you can't know what other teams have him valued at and you may be missing out on a franchise QB by the trade back gamble.  

 

You went on for pages talking about "value" being right only in a trade-back for Teddy.

Gannon was a vet, but never amounted to much until Gruden coached him. Gruden was also a key offensive assistant in GB when Brett Favre arrived. Gruden never got to coach a 1st round QB, but he did well with what he had. Most of his QBs had their best years under Gruden (Johnson had his best year with Randy Moss).

Well since no athlete would admit cutting weight to try to test better in the drills, we'll stick with the cold reason...but I suspect he just cut some weight to try to have a faster 40 time as is commonplace.

Try it.  Weigh yourself in the morning, at night, after a few hours of drinking, after a big meal, etc, and you will see relatively big differences.

No he didn't. Tampa Bay trading what they did for Gruden is irrelevant to the assertion I made and him trying to refute that assertion. Gannon and Brad Johnson were older veteran QB. And as for Brunell...I'm sure Holmgren had the most influence of anyone in regards to his "development" while there. Gruden was a WR's coach.

in reality i know this. But i have never seen anyone grasping for as many straws as the Teddy fans when it comes to their savior for excuses. At one point Teddy was a decent prospect to me but his fans has made it rough. Its like TMD wanting Matt Barkley in the first but worse.
