Caldwell would be "relatively surprised" if Blackmon plays next season
|
I think it was back in April of 2012 when the Jungle was a twitter about Blackmon's DUI in Stillwater that was reduced to underaged drinking I raised concern that his BAC was 0.26.
That is an astounding level that would leave over 95% of the population severly impared, emotionally numb and danger of asphyxiation by aspiration of vomitus if asleep. In June his aggrivated DUI arrest records show a BAC of .24. He was described by the arresting officers as unsteady on feet, slurred speech, eyes glassy and bloodshot. I know that several here have advocated a tough love approach, some a cut your losses and others let it play out. It is not as simple a choice as many wish to characterize. Having walked with others trying to climb from this canyon, the journey is difficult and dangerous even with a support group. What I know is that the true level of his addiction and the demons he is dealing with is not understood by many, he is a very seriously sick young man with a horrid addiction. As a society, those who have not walked in the shoes of addiction, or with someone addicted are all to quick to pass immediate judgement. Justin needs just as many prayers as Russell Allen, for Justin has the more difficult journey ahead. It is my sincere hope that Justin takes a step forward each day, is back with the team and becomes the face of the franchise. HeadSlap

Excellent statement.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I cant help but say that alcoholism is not like down's syndrome, or being skitso... you are not born with it, it is self caused, and self fixed... he was not dealt this hand at birth Quote:while I certainly hope/pray/wish he gets better.. I cant help but say that alcoholism is not like down's syndrome, or being skitso...That data is inaccurate. There are proven genetic markers that show that risk of alcholism is pre-determined genetically. The ongoing research into this have proven that either you have a predilection or can be influenced In Utero. The data has totally disproved "self caused, self fixed" HeadSlap

Quote:Well, wag your moral indignation in the direction of the players. They sign the contracts agreeing to this. Like I said, for now it's guys like them who get paid handsomely to take the abuse. Soon it will be average joes like us who don't really have a choice. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Quote:So now you want to restrict my right to enter into an employment contract, the terms and conditions of which I find acceptable? Do you find it acceptable to work for $4 per hour? Why can't you? “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
I spent 25 years in a Global 10 corporation so I'm very much in tune with corporate America.
It's also very real that NFL players agree in their contracts to not participate in risky activities outside of football as in skiing, rollerblading, motorcycle riding, all of them being legal activities and guess what, they agree in their contracts to not participate in those activities. We can agree to disagree, and when they come for your favorite habit then you'll perhaps see my point. Or not. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:I get it, you guys are cool with it. I'm not. We can agree to disagree, and when they come for your favorite habit then you'll perhaps see my point. Or not. It's not really a matter of agreeing to disagree. Clauses like this exist in the real world just as they do in the NFL. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

We're disagreeing about the validity of said clauses, not that they exist. I'm simply saying that employer encroachment on privacy rights is a concern for us non-millionaires going forward. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Sammy Watkins #3 will make us not care as much about Blackmon... just sayin
Quote:That data is inaccurate. In the case of someone being born into an alcoholic family.. Isn't he from a relatively wealthy family that does not have these issues? also, having genetics that show he is at higher risk for addictive behavior still does not mean he is born an alcholoic, he still gets that way from self excessive drinking
Quote:Sounds sinister....Blackmon lies in wait! I like it!Yeah! ya know?... Yeah! Sinister~ ![]()

You are crackhead insane. You should take that back right now. I was leaning towards getting a defensive player; say like Mack. But then I saw this.... WOW!!!

The genetics from those here on this board have caused me to drink. So it's not just an inherited trait.
That and years of bland football. Carry on, gotta ice down the rest of my problem.
