I've always though of Manziel in football terms.  But I just was thinking today how HUGE it would be for the city if he actually did come here.   Could Manziel in Jacksonville completely transform the city?  Or am I exaggerating?

He would bring a big initial publicity surge, but the only thing that will last is winning whether it is Johnny, Teddy, Bortles, or anyone else.

Think of it in Mike Vick in ATL, he was the cities big star and their guy, electric player, exciting player and he also won games, 2 NFC title games

Johnny could do that for Jacksonville as long as he turns out to be a good player, Jacksonville has never had a star like that

 

Or he could turn out to be Blaine Gabbert.

 

At worst, he'd be a flash in the pan that is a star for a season.  Then the league would figure him out, and suddenly he's not so popular.  Vince Young owned Nashville as a rookie.

I assume you're at least half joking, but Manziel is quicker as a runner than Tebow, better change of direction....and he's also a better passer. I'd be stunned if he was anything close to as bad as Tebow was in the pro's.

He has completely transformed Texas A&M's Kyle Field to a $400Mil+ makeover now referred to by locals as The House That Johnny Built. I sincerely hope it happens for the Jags as well.

The NFL is not collegiate football.  Texas A&M can twist the arms of alumni to get the big money donors to pony up for their alma mater.  It's a completely different world at the next level.  There won't be a house that Johnny is building in the NFL, unless he's building one to live in.

I'm pretty sure it's irrelevant what Manziel wants or thinks.  If the Jags draft him, I guess he could sit out and refuse to sign.  That would do wonders for his stock. 

 

 

That's a little over the top.  The city isn't going to change if Manziel is here.  The franchise will get more attention, both good and bad.  The city will still be the same city either way.

Who cares what Johnny wants or doesn't want?    He has no say in the matter. 

 

A flash in the pan QB isn't going to attract anything.  Players are wanting to come to Jacksonville already to play for Gus, and to play in the state of Florida where there are no taxes to eat up a chunk of their income.  This is professional football.  Players want to play where they're going to get paid.

I think the leak is from an agent who thinks playing here would be bad for business (meaning the dolla dolla bills y'all). I doubt Maziel said this. How could anyone with Gus in our corner?? Seriously??
