Quote:Yes, and coaches just say okay and don't have any concern about their future.  Tanking is a great thing to have on your resume for future job prospects.  It's really worked out for you, right?

This just gets dumber and dumber where you're concerned.

By 2-6 Kubiak was toast anyway.

Quote:The Colts did from game 1 that year....I don't believe the Texans had any intention of tanking as that season began. But by the time the season fell into the crapper at 2-6? Thats about where I believe McNair gave the word get that 1st pick. Bridgewater.

Fixed it for you.

So McNair was like," listen, Gary, I am going to fire you anyway. what i want you to do is tank the rest of the season. I know it will look bad for you on your resume as a coach and everything but hey, I am going to fire you anyway so you probably won't mind looking worse when trying to get a new job."

What do they need to worry about the future for? The tremendous amount of "Hush"  money that McNair threw at them would certainly let all involved to live out their lives in luxury. :woot: :woot: . Plus throw in the cash that Goodell chucked down so he could continue to screw the Jags and they are probably up there at Khan levels of cash.

I already discussed that. Yes, I assumed the end game was Bridgewater, and miscalculated on the focus at that point. However, at the end of the day, they tanked for the first overall pick, (and subsequent 1st picks in every round). It simply gives you the most options/ opportunity. Clowney was also a big enough player in his own right to make them tank. (if not for them to pick, to use as trade bait for a windfall of picks) This wasn't Fisher/ Joeckel as the top 2 prizes like last year. Finishing at the top of this draft had much more incentive.

Sorry.  Being fired after his team fell apart is a lot different than being fired after intentionally tanking.  You of all people know what that stench is like.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yup.  Kubiak was in on the plan to move the Jaguars to London or LA.  It's all a grand scheme to undermine the Jaguars.

except the texans literally look like one of the top 5 garbage teams in the NFL. they have the look of a team with the arrow pointing down. theyre in a bit of a rebuild themselves now and you dont hear players talking about how they want to go to houston like they are saying they wanna play in jax. why would you want to do that to your team for 1 player that you dont even know if he is going to pan out? you play to win, you dont play to put yourself in a position to draft a player thats a total guess. thats not even diving into the fact that no matter how good clowney is, as a defensive end, he isnt going to be changing the game for them. how many super bowls did they win with super mario? the whole thing would be a waste and there is no way that a group of millionaires would be stupid enough to do that. they didnt get rich by accident.

You really think the Texans are that bad? I don't agree. Their roster is still good. I could see 2013 for them being just like 2011 was for the Colts, i.e. a speedbump per se. A good draft has the Texans right back in the playoffs, IMO.

I hope you're right here, though.

their defense was overrated 2 years ago. a lot of those players hit the downside of the aging peak. cushing got busted for his roids. you combine the aging roster with the overall lack of talent and now no QB, probably starting a rookie or ryan fitzpatrick. call me crazy but that roster doesnt look too scary to me at all.

Quote:Manning was injured. The Colts were only as good as Manning while he was there. They didn't tank. They simply lost their golden goose and didn't draft well enough to maintain without him.
it's funny because you keep posting evidence and facts and he can't accept that his opinion is just flat out wrong. He could safe some face If he'd admit it but I doubt he will. Teams don't tank!

LOL, Pittsburgh absolutely tanked for the top pick that year. I think it was actually blatantly admitted at some point.

could be more posturing, I won't believe it until if/ when 5 more hours pass and Houston actually selects someone, and even then, they could still do a trade like has happened in the past (Eli?)

Well obviously anything could happen, Schefter even said that. But from what he hears, their planning on picking 1st overall. If someone comes and bombards them with a great offer obviously they'd take it. Who wouldn't?

Quote:Proud member of the tanking brigade. If we have no chance at the playoffs next year and Chad Henne is still the QB ill be in the tanking crew once again.

Hoping for losses does not equal thinking the team is TRYING to lose just to make that clear.
I guess you learned nothing
