Blake Bortles

Joshua, I'm right there with you. I've only seen Bortles' highlights. So again, I like what I've read and heard about him. And I don't think he's as much a question as Gabbert was at the time. But the similarities of the situation, the fact that he is considered by most to need developing (which yes, is most QBs entering the NFL. Unfortunately there are few Andrew Luck types out there). The thought of getting an immediate impact player...

BUT perhaps he steps in, impresses, and turns out to be much more ready than thought and lights things up.

I see that we all have our opinions of the Jags #3 pick of Blake Bortles.

Has anybody ask Mr. Chad Henne what he thinks of our #3 pick, especially since he just resigned with the Jags? I wonder what his opinion might be.

The situation isn't similar. Bortles wasn't a late riser.

Is he a more athletic Matt Ryan? Or just a smaller Big Ben? And how does he not beat out Henne week 1? Henne lost to Gabbert.

Quote:You need to read something outside of ESPN. There were predictions that had Bortles as the top QB in the draft. True, I would rather have had Mack or Bridgewater but look at what the media is saying about the pick dude. We're far from a laughing stock.

Save your insults.I never said he wasn't the best QB in the draft. I disputed that he was a "top 5" player in the draft. Reading more than ESPN is how I came to that determination.

They covered this when they interviewed caldwell and bradley. Seems like henne new the entire time that they were taking a qb to replace him after this year

So you're saying you have an issue with us selecting arguably the best QB in the draft when that's one of our positions of need? Well, I guess there's not much more I can say here. Move along.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Judging from his smile when the pick was made, I think Dave feels he just made a great pick.

If he's a franchise guy then he's priceless in value.

That's because Gabbert was a practice beast. I used to hear it from the radio guys how awesome BG looked in practice when they would report from training camp and practices. He just couldn't make the transition from the practice field to the real game.

This. If they weren't in love with Mack or Watkins take your QB.

Henne knows he sucks, he's just collecting checks, he'll come out tomorrow "i cant wait to help him with whatever he needs", "im excited for the competition" blah blah blah

The more I think about it (and the video I watch) the more I'm getting excited about the pick.  He'll have some work to do but luckily he doesn't have to come in and start right away.  I think he could though, if needed.

I just think he's more NFL ready than Gabbert was coming out, and Henne is underwhelming. We should be worried if Bortles doesn't make it hard for Gus NOT to play him over Henne this year.

This pick took guts. I hope Caldwell knows what he is doing.
