He wanted him just as bad as I did, I love it

 

Glad we didn't have to trade for him in the end. 

 

But the curious thing to me would be...He tried to trade up to 33, and after that failed, made no more attempt to trade up to say 34, 35, 36, etc etc....interesting.

All things I've read said he tried to trade up with Cleveland, not pick 33.

They didn't talk about it, but I wouldn't say he necessarily didn't try.  Caldwell said some things in the press conference to suggest he might have been trying multiple teams, but the compensation just wasn't right.  We know from the Robinson presser that they had both of them rated very similarly, so perhaps they decided given the compensation the teams wanted, they'd be okay with sitting and taking Robinson instead.

 

In the end, it works out that we grabbed both.

OK, its possible I was confusing him with someone else. 

 

But the knee and size are 2 things that are concerns. (we need a big WR)

 

He reminds me of Reggie Wayne. Very smooth and shifty. He's not a smurf. He's 6'0". Allen Robinson and Marcades can be the redzone targets.

Hey, first time posting on here. I'm an SC graduate and have been following Marqise' career since his high school days where he played with Robert Woods until now. Lee is an unreal athlete and is absolutely one of the most explosive athletes when healthy. This past season, I know he was playing injured for most of the season with a knee injury and didn't fully heal until recently in the offseason. Also, our quarterback play and our oline was pretty bad which is why his stats dipped so far from his sophomore to junior season.

 

I talked to him a month or so ago and he said he's feeling great and ready to go out there and contribute right away. To those questioning his abilities, this is an absolute steal at the 2nd round and he will make noise right away with Bortles. No character issues at all. He's very, very competitive and he shows his emotions on the field which is why some idiots believe he has a temper, when in fact he doesn't. 

 

Here's a clip from a spring workout about 2 years ago that displays some of his athleticism. He makes some pretty amazing catches, but this past season, he did drop some easy throws which can easily be fixed in my opinion.

If  the guy can play then I'm cool with it. All this complaining over body types and speed lol. The guys can run and is 6 foot tall. Whats the issue. What do we have currently that we are in a position to be picky about? If he becomes Steve Smith i'll be more than happy with that.

If he can be steady as a rookie and make the underneath catches and basic routes while proving to be a redzone target he will be a success. Once that rookie season out of way and he has confidence back and a year to work with the best physical trainers and maybe get some receiving advice from ex jags receivers he could be a pro bowl caliber WR

I literally don't understand how this guy was graded first round material. I'm hoping the best for him like I did with Reggie Williams but, I don't know. I mean at least Reggie was big and strong. This guy is slow, weak, short, catches balls in his chest, can't play the ball in the air, drops balls, seems to have issues getting on the same page with his QB(could be QB problem, not entirely sure on that one).

 

I'm literally watching this film baffled by this pick. I wouldn't have picked this guy in the 5th round.

I liked the pick we had to start adding weapons sometime. I think under Sulivan he will improve and become a solid WR medical might be a question mark for some, but I'm sure they ran it past the teams medical staff.

How is he slow? He ran a 4.52 and plays even faster.

Since when is 6-0 short? 

 

He doesn't have the best catching technique, as he basket-catches instead of using his hands, but that can be taught.

One thing I noticed about Lee's route running is that he does not give away the climax of his route with body language. Head is always straight ahead off the line and only turns when the body does. Arms are kept in close, which surprisingly matters a lot as loose flying arms can actually assist the more inexperienced college CBs with their reaction time.

 

As a former receiver and a high school receiver coach, I can appreciate fundamentals like that. Not even a majority of NFL veterans have that down yet.

 

So far, I like what it seems like he already knows about the position, and hopefully Sullivan can bring out the rest of his talent.

BUT ---  it's clear from his highlights that he catches many of his receptions with his hands and not his body.  Not all - but plenty.  If he can do that, he'll only get better at it under Sullivan.
