Quote:I will one up even that. Manziel and Sam on the same team and they started dating. Manziel and Tebow on the same team, and they started dating.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:I will one up even that. Manziel and Sam on the same team and they started dating. OUCH !!! Hilarious Quote:Manziel and Tebow on the same team, and they started dating. Now that would be epic. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Imagine drafting Manziel and Sam on the same team? The circus would be insane. And while you are at it, just sign Richie Incognito to the team. Just cover with a tent and you will sell a whole lot of peanuts watching this show.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
Quote:And while you are at it, just sign Richie Incognito to the team. There's a locker room that would have some seriously interesting chemistry. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:He says that is what he wants, but saying one thing and doing another are completely opposite. I am not sure why there is a need to "come out of the closet officially". Agreed with this ^^^ To me it reaks of agenda. ![]() People sex lives should be no ones business but the people involved. Quote:Agreed with this ^^^That's where you're wrong. Sam might not have been drafted had he stayed in the closet. As it stands now, he's saying he would have been taken higher had he been straight. Personnel guys refute that, but it's irrelevant. The insinuation that he was held back because of his sexuality is nothing more than a set up for a future discrimination case, IMO. This is why I suggested that if ever there was a great time for a closeted player to come out, it's now. It would steal his thunder, and the world would quickly discover that most people really don't care about sexual preference if you know how to play the game. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yea, maybe you're right about that. He might not have been drafted if not for that. And 100% agreed....wait until he gets released, he'll pull the gay card, just watch.
I do grow tired of the constant talk about it. suppose to be football, not a soap opera. I thought we lived in a world where sexual orientation doesn't matter. guess that only applies to us normal people.

Most people do care. If you didn't care you wouldn't be posting in the Michael Sam thread. And if most people didn't care there wouldn't be this huge debate. It's a silly notion.
I also love the argument I don't care who you sleep with, well, right up until you say the M word... oh yeah, then I care.

I thought we lived in a world where sexual orientation doesn't matter. guess that only applies to us normal people. Yeah...it matters so little that it's 2014 and it's the first time a player is openly gay. I'm sure sexual orientation has never mattered in the NFL until now.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

One thing the travel and a lot of other industries realized.....when people don't have kids....they have MONEY.
Gays are the ultimate DINKS. The NFL may have finally realized it would increase revenues to have gay players. Within 10 years this is going to be common.....
Because Jaguars is our mantra

That won't happen. He's guaranteed a long, mediocre career in the NFL, and eventually a spot in Canton. Nobody is cutting this guy. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'm sure sexual orientation has never mattered in the NFL until now. openly gay, im glad he is true to himself and doesn't live a lie. still don't care. don't care about bortles girlfriend either. or if the ladies liked gabberts hair. but it is the news of the day. would have to go to a cave somewhere to avoid it. the nfl network is spending a huge amount of time on a player that will never amount to anything, simply because he is a statistical anomaly. kinda on par with tebow.
Quote:Released? That won't happen. He's guaranteed a long, mediocre career in the NFL, and eventually a spot in Canton. Nobody is cutting this guy. Canton???!!! If he makes Canton for anything other than a HOF worthy football career, then thats a disgrace. Quote:He says that is what he wants, but saying one thing and doing another are completely opposite. I am not sure why there is a need to "come out of the closet officially".While I don't blame him for the media circus, I do call bullcaca about him not wanting it either. He could easily put a stop to all the publicity if he didn't want it to be a distraction. He has chosen not to do so.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Quote:I don't know how a man who was SEC Defensive Player of the Year cannot make a roster. He was the best player on defense in the best conference in the country, how can he not make a contribution on the field in some capacity? I was just about to post the same exact thing. Winning SEC Defensive player of the year is no small feat, with it being the best Conference in the country. He doubled his sack total from 6 or 7 to double digits. With that said the games he made the most damage in ie UF, USC with his aggressive play. He takes too wide of angles when it comes to pressure, which in turn is a result from his lack of speed and size. He cant be a hybrid and would be better suited 4-3 guy, that would help mask his lack of range.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

He has chosen not to do so. One way he could have decreased the publicity substantially was not to have a camera at his home during the draft and not have any media members present. The media as expected has exploited him to the nth degree but he could have told the media I'm just focusing on football and I want my privacy.
To all in this thread... what has Michael Sam done other than publicly state he was gay?
Take a minute to step back and ignore what the media has done. What specifically has Michael Sam done other than state I'm a gay athlete who was SEC defensive player of the year? How a lot of this reads is: He should have stayed in the closet because now he's set himself up for success just because he is gay? |
