Looks like that someone is not you! The plan is to let him sit, so let him sit. Not sure if you know this but its a pretty big jump to the next level, and I for one would rather make sure my rookie qb is 100% ready.

When did Henne become Favre or Bledsoe? Are you even listening to yourself?

 

Those guys sat because the guys ahead of them were at least above average (Favre was great btw). The teams had no reason to move on.

Take a look at Brees's first 2 years as a starter. He played badly. He didn't magically light it up after sitting a year. There's going to be a big transition no matter when they start the first time. The question is, how long do you want to delay the inevitable.

The need is to make sure the pieces are in place for the qb to have a chance! There is not an immediate need to play him,that's why Henne is there.

What does it matter who he is sitting behind? Whether he is behind Henne or Joe Montana doesn't change the fact that he isn't considered ready to start. The win loss record next year isn't part of decision to sit Bortles. Their concern is about what's best for his long term future. What caliber of QB starts ahead of him next year is immaterial.

Henne's play will dictate when Bortles will start.  If the Jags start out 0-4 you can bet your butt there will be chatter week 5 about Bortles starting. 

 

Why did Gabbert start? 

 

A.  Because Gene was a terrible GM, cut David Garrard, didn't sign a serviceable veteran, and thought McCown could cut it. 

B.  McCown Couldn't cut it and threw 5 picks against the the Jets. 

 

This is the NFL.  You start when it is time.  The NFL waits for no one to be ready.  That is just how it is. 

 

Hell, if Henne comes out week 1 and throws for a whopping 159 yrds 1 TD and 2 picks you can bet that there will be chatter about Blake starting.
