Michael Sam To Do A Reality Show On Oprah's Network

Quote:Agree, he has a right to do whatever he wants, and we all have the right to not like it.

Well, we should have that right.....but as shown by the Dolphins player that was suspended for his tweet...we apparently do not have the right to not like it (or express that view).

Yeah, that absolutely blows my mind.

If they had been comments about a black player kissing his white girlfriend would you defend such a tweet?

No matter what his answer be, it wouldn't matter. The point of it is that a person can't freely express how they feel about a situation in this case without being reprimanded.

What sort of life would he have to be living for you to say 'yeah that man is all about football'? Serious question.

You can keep trying to spin this any way you want. A select few of you are on here crusading that anyone who says something negative about Michael Sam is a bigot and hates gay people. It's your mind set that needs to change, not mine.

If he were "all about football," he would not have a reality show. Neither is AJ Mccaron, neither was TO. We are talking about a 7th round draft pick that may not even make the team. If I could make millions playing football, I would put everything else on the back burner until I was assured of at least a spot on the team.

The point is bigoted views expressed publicly are often met with punishment. A really great player would get away with it, but anyone that has any doubt about their value to their team would do well to keep their mouth shut if they really hate seeing two men kissing.

The sad thing is if someone disagrees with it they are labeled a bigot, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Their right to say it, sure.  The content of the tweet?  No.  But I wouldn't defend the content of the tweet for the comments made about Michael Sam either.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."  - Evelyn Beatrcie Hall.

Employers should not be able to fine or reprimand employees for doing something within the law on their own free time.  It's ideological discrimination.

I think the fine against the Dolphins player is borderline... it was said about another NFL player, and involved an NFL event.  But I also highly doubt that saying a pick was a horrible pick would draw a fine from the NFL either.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I removed certain parts of your quote to make this fit for Michael Sam as well.

If he was proven like a Robert Mathis type player (sans drug test failure) or JJ Watt he can do what he wants.

And if the terms of your employment contract stipulated that the employer could and would fine or reprimand you for such behavior?

Maybe he should have chosen another line of work if he didn't like his public speech held to some standards.

There are examples of players or coaches speaking out against the league and not being reprimanded. John Harbaugh for example speaking out against rules he thought were stupid regarding amount of practice times, use of facilities, etc.

So Michael Sam needs to stop being a bigot, bigot in his case meaning kissing another man?

Are you serious?

He's saying that Michael Sam is the one that did something wrong. What did he do wrong that the NFL needs to discipline him for?

I get why people want to stick up for him....but I think what they are trying to do is clouding their judgement and some are doing more harm than good.

If your point wasn't that Michael Sam's kiss deserved discipline then what was your point?

So I was correct and now you can't figure out a way to back out of it so you're just trying to act like I don't understand?
