CS3 is the guy until proven otherwise. WR usually doesn't translate well to the NFL in their first season. Cecil, then Robinson because of his size. Whoever was on here saying Robinson is just a 3rd down & redone guy obviously didn't watch him much!

Neither do our big brother out west the Seahawks. They don't have a true number 1 WR either and seem to be doing ok.

their wide receiver corp also pretty much sucks (since Harvin and Rice are always injured) and they were 26th in the league in passing offense last year.

Robinson has that look of a dominating WR. I'm not sure how he fell to pick 61. I look at it this way.. Odell Beckham at pick 12 or Robinson at 61? Easy decision. IMO he's better than Beckham also.

My guess is that Cecil Shorts III will most likely be the Z running in motion on occasion catching over the mid to deep middle, Marqise Lee will be the x and will go deep a lot hopefully beating out the man-to-man coverage, and  Allen Robinson the y receiver he'll beat out the linebackers and catch a lot of short passes.  Ace Sanders comes in on 4 WR packages, special designed plays etc.

The wide receiver group might eventually be pretty good. But in all honesty, with one and possibly two rookies starting there could be some ugly stuff the first four or five games. The vast majority of rookie wideouts don't just jump in there and 'get it'.

Cecil is not a go to guy. He's at his best when theres already a goto guy taking the focus off of him, and he cleans up the garbage. 

 

no one was taking the focus off of him last season. realistically he has been the go to guy for the past two seasons. 

 

also the front office has come out and said that cecil is in the long term plans for the team and the future. 

 

another thing is that sullivan, who is the wide receivers guru here, has come out and said that he doesnt like number designations.

 

sullivan also said that these guys are rookies, he isnt going to anoint anyone anything until they prove themselves. 

 

edit: i also want to add that you just dont like shorts. and it sounds like you are down on lee too. you seem like a guy more obsessed with size with wide receivers, even though you didnt care much about teddys size as a qb. you seem to prop up robinson and are down on lee but oddly enough on the NFL insiders, caldwell had Lee rated higher than Robinson. Now I also think Lee is the overall more talented WR than Robinson, I think I would tend to take caldwells word for it over yours, or anyone else on here who seem to like Robinson for whatever reason, idk if its to be different, or because they want to be the one who said "im smarter than you guys, told you so!" but Lee hands down is the more dangerous weapon.

Allen on either outside spot. Cecil and Lee can play the slot but if ace is on the field they cab both kick outside. I'd be surprised to see cecil lee and sanders line up on 3 wr sets (without lewis).

Backham has the it factor and plays much more fluid in open space than Robinson. That's why Beckham will see KR duties and Robinson won't. If you compare their 'dominating' ability to get the ball from single double or triple coverage then they'd be about even. That says a lot for the undersized Beckham (compared to Robinson).

If I'm calling the plays then I'd love to see Lee or Shorts go against a nickelback. It can stretch the over the top cover man away from your number one or hot read. This isn't just about size. Its using speed across the formation to give you good looks. That's what nfl offenses are all about, giving a qb a first, second, and so on reads.

Robinson would be the "#1".  Honestly I don't really care as long as they can run good routes and get separation.
