Players sueing the NFL for pain killer injections

#1

I love Big Bo's response. It's why he was a great leader for Team Teal and really should be looked at as one of the better leaders in this community.

“I’m not saying the NFL has no responsibility,” he said. “But I would put most of the responsibility on the players ourselves – because we chose to play the game. We knew the risk. We chose to take pain pills. I took pain pills. I took Toradol. I did those things. No one made me do them. I wanted to be on the field. Was there pressure to be on the field? Sure, it’s a job – just like the guy who’s waking up this morning, there’s pressure to go perform at his job so he can provide for his family. The biggest difference is we were compensated in a very nice way.”

Me? I'm fine. I just have a problem with people like this. Boselli is dead on correct. I hate the shirking of personal responsibility by the players with the lawsuit (or in general) . But thats how it is today.

Most of the guys doing the sueing played back in the 80's. Is this an 80's problem or a problem of now?

We have a guy that played in the late 90's/00's saying that they are wrong. Isn't he more current and proving that as time goes on people are more accountable?

They played in the 80's but are SUING now, so yes, NOW would be the problem.

Tony Bo isn't the problem, He speaks the truth. The problem are these leeches that are shirking their own responsibility in this and blaming others and trying to cash in.

Point being they should be taking some damn responsibility for their own actions instead of looking to blame someone else.

Personal responsibility is a very unpopular term today. People just can't stand it. Case in point ^^^^ Why the hell are you arguing and by extension trying to defend these cretins???

Typical drama-queenish over-reaction.

I understand where Boselli is coming from, but I'm not sure he's thought this through.

It's my understanding that the players are saying that they weren't informed of the long term detrimental effects of the medications they were given. So is Boselli saying it's the player's responsibility to know he's being lied to?

This has nothing to do with personal responsibility (that John Wayne silliness that TMD just eats up). It has to do with unethical behavior of doctors and, perhaps, the teams that employed them.

It seems to me these players should be suing the doctors and perhaps some teams, but not the NFL.

Agreed, but if you're going to sue, you're going to target the deepest pockets. That's the NFL.

This issue has nothing to do with personal accountability. Players were given cocktails of pain medications to assure they could get on the field quickly. Boselli even admitted the process worked. As you pointed out, the problem here is the long term ramifications of taking these concoctions over an extended period. Former players are dealing with kidney and liver problems along with other ailments as a result of this.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

LOL, as usual you're totally eliminating the responsibility of the person for what they choose to enter their body.

Its like the Atkins diet people that didn't eat breads but instead ate up 8 helpings of Pork fats all day and then sued because they had heart trouble,,,,yeah, they had no idea that would be bad for them....

So typical of Brian.

You're not making sense. I realize you posted late at night, but still ...

Are you saying a player should know not to trust the team doctor, or he should assume personal responsibility to learn about the long term effects of each medication?

So which is it? Try to contribute to the conversation, rather than fall back on the usual blather about "personal responsibility" "old generation, new generation". etc. etc. Your act gets tiresome when there are real issues to discuss. Now, if we're talking about food or whatever feel free to throw in your usual silliness.
