QB Nick Foles

TMD, you make it sound like Foles is a turd in disguise which is far from true. Foles has above average qualities you want in a starting QB (pre snap reads, decision making, good arm, poise, pocket presence, etc.).
What's wrong with saying Foles is a top 20 QB? His stats last year were elite, but he was a benefactor of Kelly's offense. Foles numbers last year were Bress, Manning, Rodgers esque. He is not in that tier, though. He is every bit as good as the Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, Ryan Tannehill, etc. level quarterbacks. Again, if Kelly's offense can turn crap to cookies, then why did Vick and Barkley struggle in it? Quote:I feel like I could be put in Chip Kelly's offense and be top 20 in the NFL. you guys think chip kelly's offense gives nick foles the ability to make his reads and make the throws with a very low percent of turnovers? idk how you would arrive at that conclusion. its the player, not plays. gabbert isnt performing in that offense. vick was mediocre. foles was very good at arizona and he only got better.

Well, it's pretty accepted the Kelly is an offensive guru. I am on your side (check my post history) regarding Foles being legit, but I think he is legit in terms of being a very good starting QB. I think being a very good starting QB + Kelly's Offensice guruness = elite production.

Foles has above average qualities you want in a starting QB (pre snap reads, decision making, good arm, poise, pocket presence, etc.). Vick didn't struggle. He got hurt. He was fine in the limited action he saw. Barkley struggled with the sore shoulder all year.
Foles...
8-2, 64% completion, 27 TDs, 2 INTs, 9.1 YPA QB rating of 119.2 Vick 2-4, 53% completion, 5 TDs, 3 INTs, 8.6 YPA QB rating of 86.5 Again, if Foles is so terrible and only looks good because of the offense.... Then why did Vick struggle? Also, why would Barkley get playing time if he was hurt? Sounds like a poor coaching decision to me. Set your injured rookie QB up for failure and risk greater injury??
Quote:Foles... Vick didn't get a chance to get going in a groove like Foles either... I remember in one of Foles first games as starting QB in Kelly's offense, he had one of the least effective performances I could ever remember. It was vs Dallas last year (the first Dallas game) look it up if you don't believe me. I don't necessarily think Foles is "terrible"....he's just nowhere near as good as some of you goons think he is. He's a "decent" QB that plays in a system that inflates offensive numbers. Sure, I might rip on him saying he sucks and all, but I just don't like him. He's not Gabbert bad or anything. But the people are on crack if they think he's some sort of "elite" QB. He's not even close. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
again, he's top 10. Only time will tell but too much credit is given to chip Kelly across the media. Foles is potentially chip Kelly's Brady.

TMD, I don't think anyone is calling Foles elite. I think he is solidly in the 10-15 range. I'd rather have Foles as my QB than over half the starting QBs in the NFL.
Quote:Vick didn't get a chance to get going in a groove like Foles either... 1. Foles stepped right in, won his first two starts throwing for 493 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs. He even added a rushing TD. How about Vick? 2. Foles only had two bad games the entire season. He was terribly vs. Dallas, but he wasn't even the worst Eagles QB that day. Matt Barkley was 11 for 20 with 0 TDs, 3 INTs, and a 35.2 QB rating. Your boy Kirk Cousins played 5 games last year and two of those games he had a lower QB rating than Foles did vs Dallas. Nick Foles has one terrible game in his first year as a starter and you cling to that as if Foles isn't a good QB.
Quote:I've gotten into so many arguments up here from stupid Eagles fans thinking that stiff is good, and me setting them straight on how its Chip Kellys offense making Foles look good.Yeah, and? Did Chip Kelly leave all of the sudden? Did Foles go to another team? No, he is still in Chip Kelly's offense...with Maclin, Matthews, Cooper, McCoy, Sproles, Ertz and Celek receiving passes from him. Might not win a Super Bowl, might not be All-Pro, but we are talking Fantasy Footbal production here. Look at what Foles did last year in what, 10 games? I never said he was going to break Peyton's records this year (although he did throw 7 in one game like Peyton last year). My purpose for the post was to say he should be seen as the best of the 2nd Tier QB's if you are not targeting one in round 1 or 2 of your draft. Tier 1 - Manning, Brees, Rodgers Tier 2 - Foles, Luck, Ryan, Newton. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

He's probably not a bad 2nd tier QB in fantasy football. Come playoff time though, I don't see Foles taking the team very far. He's not long for the Eagles. 1-2 years more, tops.

That's good because someone that can't admit that Foles has at least some talent cannot be taken seriously. Quote:Now these are good points. He's probably not a bad 2nd tier QB in fantasy football. A zone read offense has no use for a QB that excels at pre-snap reads and quick decision making, donchyaknow?
Quote:A zone read offense has no use for a QB that excels at pre-snap reads and quick decision making, donchyaknow? Its going to be funny when in 2 years ol' statue is gone from the Eagles offense. And people like you and ol stupid avatar that he thinks is clever, will be making excuses for it.
Quote:Its going to be funny when in 2 years ol' statue is gone from the Eagles offense. And people like you and ol stupid avatar that he thinks is clever, will be making excuses for it. In what world is Nick Foles a statue? He had 221 rushing yards in 11 regular season starts last season. He is far from a dual threat QB, but he isn't a statue. Regardless being able to make pre-snap reads, quick decisions, and throwing with accuracy are much more important in a zone-read offense than being a running QB. |
