At first I thought that Bradley was just saving the leg of his most potent weapon. Then I realized that he already used the weapon. The weapon had been fired, and now Bradley is attempting to put the bullet back into the gun.

I wonder if this is all part of a bigger conspiracy. What if Bradley and Scobee are collaberating. What if they have made a pact to tank the season to get the first overall pick. It makes perfect sense. Then, they could take the best available kicker with the first pick of the draft, and be able to groom him into the weapon that Scobee has been over the years.

 

It makes perfect sense! Scobee goes to coach, Bradley becomes Jaguars President, and the #1 overall pick (who will be a kicker!) will be the savior of the franchise in the new age!

This staff can't leave a single stone unturned when it comes to using the first pick of the draft on the new superweapon kicker. It can make or break a franchise and it's management.

I'm not sure I see it. How could this team possibly risk trading down and losing out on the BAK. (Best Available Kicker)? There are a lot of teams that are going to be jockeying to get that first pick to get the superweapon. I suppose it could be a winning formula and a shrewd move if the Jaguar management subscribes to the BALL theory. (Best Available Longsnapper Left)

 

With a trade down, they could still aquire a dominant kicker to learn under Scobee. Then they would also have the best available longsnapper as well. I need to give this some thought. You may be onto something here. Even the best kicker can't make points out of plays beginning with bad snaps. This offseason is going to keep me on the edge of my seat with theatre like this. The opportunities for the Jags are endless!

It hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday...

 

Last week down 34-3, 4th and goal from the 4,  and with the game on the line, Coach Bradley had the choice to either send our All Pro kicker out to kick it and make it a four possession game. Instead, Gabbert comes out and promptly whips the ball off the middle of the end zone. Yesterday, Scobee comes out, splits the uprights and you can see our players oozing with confidence on the sideline. Then, all hell breaks loose. A pink flag on the field leads to a redo of 4th down from the 2 instead of the four and what does Gus do...takes the points off the board and trots in Gabbert who promptly throws a perfect spiral to one of the players on the opposing team.Furthermore, Gus Bradley went for two three weeks ago vs. Oakland, once again keeping his best player off of the field.

 

Game, Set Match -  a once promising season gone right down the drain and only one person to blame - Coach Gus Bradley.

 

It's decisions like these that only lead a rational human being to state the obvious - There obviously must be a power struggle in the locker room between Bradley and his best player Josh Scobee. It should be noted that feuds such as these are not all that uncommon. Tom Landry and Roger Staubach had their issues, as did John Elway and Mike Shanahan and as did Paul Blomenkamp with star power forward TC. It should be noted that in all of but the last case cited, the head coach was in fact right, but in the situation of TC, he did go on to average 45 points a game after cutting ties with Blomenkamp. The Bradley situation frankly reminds me more of this situation than the previous two...

 

Clearly Gus Bradley is trying to show Scobee who is boss and who is running the show. Why else would you not allow a guy to kick a field goal for guaranteed, yes guaranteed points???  . In back, to back to  back games, Bradley has clearly shown that his personal agenda is much more important than winning football games. Scobee has made 100% of his kicks this year and Gabbert or Henne for that matter have clearly proven to be inferior choices when it comes to these type of situations.

 

Generally, when I read between the lines I am spot on - as I think I am here. At best, Coach Gus Bradley needs to understand the concept of time and score. At worst, Coach Gus Bradley needs to stop these petty feuds and allow our work horses to do their job.

 

This feud needs to end if we have any chance in Del Rio week, the most pivotal point in our franchises history.

 

Moving onto next week, Del Rio did a masterful job yesterday of now giving the Jags and reads on what they can expect next week. While the naysayers will point out that the Cowboys scored 48 points, the real football fans know that the Denver D made a play when they had to make a play.

Since when was our 2013 season promising. We turned over +50% of the roster, jettosoned seasoned vets while replacing them w/rookies and we've been plaqued w/injuries...

You're missing the entire point. We have the best kicker and punter in the league, and we are not taking advantage of it. Some are going to be lead to feel that we are tanking for the first overall pick to draft the next greatest kicker. You have to admit, it is starting to look that way.

This may go back further then we thought. I don't remember this registering at the time. Why did Gus bring in a rookie kicker in to training camp?

Do you not realize how many teams in the NFL bring in rookies kickers to compete. Heck the Patriots brought in a rookie to compete with their kicker. They have one of the better kickers in the league. It is pretty much normal and think you're over analyzing it.

I agree there is a power struggle going on with the special teams aces, but I think it's with Banger, not Scoobee.  Banger is on pace to break the all-time record for punting yards in a season, but with Gabbert throwing the multiple interceptions the past few weeks it's ruining those 3 and outs and the chance to achieve the most tremendous record in all the NFL, the punting record.

With all due respect, Gostkowski never got a franchise tag.  Scobee is THE best kicker in the league and Bradley is clearly messing with his game.
