hello every one i'm finally making my way and relocating to Jacksonville today leaving tackville behind. my 4 months here have been the worst experience of my life! i worked since day one when i got here and dammit do u know i made lots of money and tbese tack heads wouldn't provide me a place to stay? im serious, i wasn't a lazy bum... i worked my butt off and my girl did too. we tried to work our way from the ground up while we lived at the tacks rescue mission. everytime we try to get an apartment every tack head there told us "you have to have had lived here in tackville for six months and have good credit and get paid at least $10 an hour" WHAT! just to live in tackville? these are the most ignorant people on the face of gods green earth... never live in tackville or attemp to.. i repeat DON'T. it is one of the worse places in America if not the worst. they are this bible thumping, back stabbing, talk behind back coward ppl. "LIARS" i can't wait to get to Jacksonville the only time I'll hit up tackville is to see our beloved Jags kick the tacks in there house. And not only do the tacks suck but the tacksville ppl suck too.

I have a strange feeling that you're going to be disappointed once you get to Jacksonville....

Where did you live before nashville? Why'd you choose there to begin with?

You're trying to find housing without credit and making less than $10 an hour?

Not trying to make you feel stupid man, just hoping you understand the economy. $9 an hour even at 50 hours a week (you won't find that in Florida, I'm assuming your either doing kitchen work, retail or unskilled labor all of which are scarce for hours right now) is $450 a week. The low end apartments in North Florida specifically the Jacksonville area still run about $700-$800 a month, plus the security deposit and with bad credit you're going to have probably an even harder time in Florida.

Good luck man, again not trying to make you feel bad, just hoping a little dose of reality can help shed light on where you need to go and how to get there.

If you're open to living anywhere and just looking for work my advice is the Dakotas.

I'm in the same boat man. I've always had to have a cosigner in order to get a place. I've found some cheap places between 400-700 a month but your still probably gonna need a cosigner or a real good job. Sometimes the system sucks.

You think those responses were trying to make you feel stupid?

Those responses to me were more like a dose of reality.

You were ripping on nashville for something that probably would have been the case in anytown, USA

It's a good if people getting on their feet have family/friends who can help put them up until they can stand on their own.

I've done that for friends/family myself.  Best of luck.

it's really a crappy system for people trying to build credit for the first time. I get why they do it but it still sucks.

Good for you man.. Only the weak will lay down and die. The strong pull themselves out of hell and do what's necessary to accomplish what they want, and it sounds like you're well on your way. As for the people, I'm sure it's a different species up there, but it's also a different species down here too. You're going to have pretentious freaks everywhere you go. They think their feces don't stink and every time they talk to you, it feels like they're talking "down" to you.  Your job is to plow through them like a runaway freight train while on your way to accomplishing your goals. Don't let those sorry excuses of life get in your way..

I think you'll like Shadville. Just keep your nose to the grinding stone and take no prisoners..

Do you have a job lined up here? Do you have considerable funds saved up? If you are coming down here I sincerely hope you have a plan. Have you arranged your living quarters? Look for a privately held property to rent., most times an individual will give you more leeway if you can convince them you are going to pay reliably as compared to apt.complexes where you will be nothing but what your credit report says you are. Good luck to you, if you are willing Jacksonville will provide you with a opportunity to make a living.
