Josh Freeman is fortunate that he was a 1st Round pick prior to the 2011 rookie wage scale.  Not to mention,  collecting $ 3 million for playing in one game with the Vikings last season in which he was beyond horrific.   This is a player who probably will never regain the edge that he once had.   I think he's NFL toast.

Hey thanks D6, I'm just today recovered from last weekend so you know it was a good one.

Freeman, is a strange story for me. In his second season it looked like he had taken a huge step and was going to become a really good QB. And then he seemingly just fell off a cliff for whatever reason. Not sure if I recall that ever happening to a QB before without an injury being involved.

I'll glad you had a great time!

The game that might have been the turning point for Josh Freeman and the Bucs franchise was an OT home loss to the Lions in December, 2010.  The Bucs were in playoff contention at the time.   The Lions entered the game 3-10 and with an NFL record setting 26 game road losing streak.    The Lions played the Bucs again in Tampa in the 2011 regular season opener.   Freeman didn't look like the same QB as he did in parts of the 2010 game between the teams.   There might have been other games that contributed to Freeman's decline.  But that OT loss is one that many Bucs fans were talking about for a number of seasons to follow as the difference in the team's 2010 season.

If you look at the year he took a "step", it was due to their really bad schedule.  IIRC they didn't beat a single team with a winning record, besides a late season game with the playoffs in mind Saints.

Freeman simply never "got it."  I can't think of much else to say about all the bonehead decisions he made throughout his career, which was like one big rookie season that never ended.

Admittedly, I only know of his stats that year. It seemed like he was playing well from my limited perspective, but I'll defer to those that know better.

Was 2010 the year we crushed the Bucs late in the season?

Yeah, he certainly wasn't impressive in that game.

I'm waiting for the "Freeman is better than Henne" crowd to declare we should pick him up.

The new Jags market hook for 2014: "Chad Henne: At least he's not Josh Freeman."
