Miami Heat.. The Big 4?
|
Looks like Miami is targeting Carmelo Anthony now too.. If they can keep Lebron, Wade and Bosh too, yikes..

I could see Melo voiding his contract in NYC. I could also see Miami losing Bosh, who's tired of being on a team where he is the third/fourth option. I could also see Dwayne Wade restructuring his contract due to his knees, everyone sees how slow he is now. That will free up a ton of money.
Melo will sign with the Miami Heat. Bet on it. Quote:I think Bridgewater at 3 is better value than Mack at 3, yes. <div> LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Clown. </div>
Dwade isn't getting any younger, Bosh is one dimensional, and I don't think CA will enjoy being the 2nd option on a team and is getting to the age where he probably has one more max contract in his career. I don't see it happening, but the Heat will need to re-tool regardless and get a PG in the process.
If players are willing to take significantly less to play for the Heat than they are worth, they may regret it later when they are broke selling their championship rings on Ebay.

Everything I've read says he's really happy here and would probably take a pay cut to stay. Id love this (miami fan pre the big 3) because I love melo. He's always been one of my favorite players since his days at Syracuse.

It's his option, not their's this year. I just don't think Melo is very good, but Miami knows that Wade is on the way down. Lebron wants the rings/mvp's so he can pass Jordan. Lebron has had a stacked deck though.
Quote: Yeah, but at least Chicago did it on the up & up. They drafted that core of Pippen, Jordan and co. Their biggest FA pickup was Rodman who at the time wasn't even seen as a slam dunk great get at the time. He wound up fitting in nicely, though. The Bulls core wasn't built through a bunch of stars colluding to form a dynasty.

I just think, well jalen rose thinks, bosh will do whatever miami wants because he likes this situation so much. Depends on what you want melo to do. His defense is atrocious but he's number 2 behind Durant in offensive efficiency. Kinda question how he'd fit with Spo's defense though. We show less advertisements to registered users. Don't care if one team built through the draft or one team built through free agency. End goal is to win regardless of how you get there.

Do people really a joy a league that is set up this way? I just don't know how you get into it when it seems like there are only 4 teams with any shot at winning the title each year.

WHile pro Basketball has usually been like that i.e. - 1980's (Sixers/ Celtics/ Lakers/ Pistons), 90s (Bulls/ Spurs/ Knicks/ Rockets) et al...at least that wasn't assembled artificially, like the Miami Heat player collusion part of the current equation. It will be a flat out farce if they now get Carmelo. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I just think, well jalen rose thinks, bosh will do whatever miami wants because he likes this situation so much. 'Melo's Defense and his propensity to turn into a black hole on Offense, is what I think will cause the greatest problems if he were to play with the Heat in their current form. Miami has an incredible defense, and I don't know how well the rest of the team is going to react if Anthony pulls his usual I'm-just-biding-my-time-until-we-get-the-ball-back routine. I guess it kinda looks good on paper, but I see very few ways where that situation can work successfully.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Thats what I think too. Miami is at its best when Lebron takes over a game. When you have a guy like Melo who thinks he should have the ball all the time, the pieces just dont seem to fit. I can see Miami going after Melo if Lebron bolts, but I dont see them as a good fit together. Really, the pieces in Cleveland right now are pretty good. If they can get Lebron back there, they have a decent team with a good cast around him...plus adding the #1 pick. They could be legit. Have to get a good coach....but nobody wants to go to freaking Cleveland. lol We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Some good points made up there. He might just be one of these great players individually that simply doesn't make his team's better because of certain aspects, such as you outlined.
Quote:They are going to get nailed on the luxury tax, I would imagine at least. I'd doubt they care (about that) at that point.

The only reason I think it could work is Pat Riley. If he believes melo can buy into the way things work in Miami then maybe this master plan will work. If miami loses it doesn't matter though. I think lebron leaves if they lose this series which brings up the interesting point diesel pointed out. Maybe melo is an option as part of a big 4 or the replacement should lebron leave. Seems farfetched because he doesn't fit the philosophy (unless he changes his entire game). |
