I picked up Knob Creek Single Barrel yesterday and had some last night.  My favorite, so far.

I'm falling in love with Kentucky Vintage. It's got a kind of cinnamon taste to it. Nothing overpowering (i.e. fireball) but enough to add a little sweet and spicy to it. Very nice.

Ha!  I almost messaged you.  I thought you might be nearby, but it doesn't show up under your name on the mobile version.

Next time!

On topic:  I scored some Basil Hayden bourbon yesterday at the Canadian duty free shop for $30.  Pretty good deal! Will definitely have a nip this evening.

Deacon, since you seem to be the resident Bourbon man, do you happen to like Bourbon Sour's?

Not really my thing, but I do know some folks who love them. For me, the best bourbon-based mixed drink is either a Manhattan without the Orange, or something that I've heard referred to as a "Virginia Grandfather." The VG is a combination of Bourbon, Amaretto, and a cherry. So freakin' good! It's about a 3 or 4:1 ratio of bourbon to Amaretto and the cherry is key.

No sir. My cocktail experience consists of Martinis, Black Russians, and an Old Fashioned.

I had a Four Horseman way back when I turned 21 but I don't have much memory of it...

I should have included Margie's. I guess they're so common in my area it slipped my mind.

I had a couple of very good, very large, very strong margaritas in a local Mexican restaurant up here in Huntsville a couple of nights ago.  I love frozen margaritas because usually it means a good Mexican meal is soon to follow.

Try this one.  http://spiritedalchemy.com/2012/03/08/bourbon-smash/

You can make the simple syrup yourself. Add two cups of water and one cup of sugar to a sauce pan -  bring to slow boil stirring occasionally. Let simmer until noticeably thicker and allow to cool.

Also - pick up some angostura bitters at the liquor store and add one tiny dash to this cocktail to liven it up a bit.

( Deacon  -  I've had the Basil Hayden BTW.  I think I got our friend *PF hooked on it earlier in this thread B)   )
