Ace Sanders Facing Four Game Suspension
|
Quote:[BAD WORD REMOVED]. I have smoked almost every day for the past 5 years. I don't do it cause I'm addicted I do it cause I like it. I do go on vacations, trips, etc without smoking for a day or two and it's no big deal. You don't understand what addictive means. You have no understanding of the topic. Also, nobody cares about your personal stories. "Well I used cocaine and I just flat out stopped! See, it's not addictive" that's about how your argument sounds.

Do we know that the suspension is definitely for marijuana addiction ??
Just wondering if anyone can list other offences which carry a four game suspension and fit the limited public statements so far ? My view is that the team can survive the loss of sanders for four games, but that he has really let himself and the fans down. Hope he can bounce back and that this will be the end of his problems, because while he is a useful player he is far from indispensable.
Quote:You don't understand what addictive means. Sounds like you might be ignorant about Marijuana. Two completely different topics. I don't smoke. Don't like it, not for me. But that sarcastic quote you just wrote is irrelevant. Expand your social life son. Then you will learn. Quote:I sure hope so. We do know its a substance abuse suspension not a PED suspension so that means either weed, crack/cocaine, meth, heroin, pills or god knows what else these kids are doing these days. If I had to choose the substance I would hope he was using (none would be the preferred choice) it would be marijuana without question. To answer the second part of your question its a 4 game suspension because he was already in stage 1 of the drug program due to a previous violation unbeknownst to us fans. The team did a excellent job keeping that under wraps.
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
ok, so maybe this is the basis for the report from O Halloran about Sanders being on the bubble a few months ago?.....

Please cut this guy.
I don't care how much he came on and showed potential for last year. We need to set an example at this point. If we were a team that didn't have a top 5 receiver in Blackmon with the issues he's had, then maybe I could understand this being let go, but honestly, anyone who has had to be teammates with Blackmon and see what he's done to himself and had to go through, if they can still do that to themselves, then cut and get rid of please.

Quote:You don't understand what addictive means. Sorry bro, weed is not addictive. There are addictive personalities that latch onto weed, but weed itself is not a "i'm going to steal and kill for this" type of drug. Sorry man, it just doesnt work that way.

Quote:Please cut this guy. Couldn't disagree more. The example we need to set is that if Ace does what he says he's going to do that he will be looked after and treated as part of the Jaguars family. The team should be supportive and offer the chance of redemption - from what he's said and the way he fronted up to the media I think he deserves the chance to go and get his head together and come back a better person for it. Disagree all you want man, this team has been dealing with basketcase WR's for so long it's not even funny. I see you have 24 posts so maybe you haven't been around that long, but this team needs to set an example. Sorry dude.

Lol, I've been around plenty - post count isn't always an accurate measure of how well you follow the team. You have your wrong opinion, I'll have mine. Happy days.
Weed is addictive but there isn't really any withdraw symptoms. It's a mental addiction kind of like getting over a bad habit like biting your nails. You may want to bite your nails but you won't get physically sick if you don't. Getting over a weed addiction would most definitely not be something severe enough to cause him to miss camp.
I'm thinking he is hooked on pills. Withdraw from opiates or benzos can take months to get over and make you physically ill. Both often involve a prolonged period of medical supervision and, especially benzos, require medication to counter serious and potentially lethal withdraw symptoms.
If only methadone could fix the stomach pains I get every time one of our WRs starts to look like they may be a contributing member to the offense and just as quickly proves themselves otherwise.
Only a chump boos the home team!

If you want weed everyday, it's because you want something to put your mind off the real world. It's not literally that you need specifically weed. It could be that you want weed, alcohol, or another drug. Agreeing with the fact that there are no withdrawals and that it's all under your control. If this was something else, I don't care. Get rid of him, ASAP.

My opinion had nothing to do with your post count, it had everything to do with the WR's we've had and the potential we've lost man.... so yeah keep having your opinions bro but take them to another team please!

Perhaps you should take your opinions to another team if you get so upset by other fans of a team having different opinions to you. You're effectively saying that if we'd cut Reggie Williams in 2006 then Blackmon wouldn't have been suspended, right? Somehow seeing that the team is hard on substance abuse would have given him the ability to avoid his problems? Either that's what you're saying (which is patently ridiculous) or you don't have a point, as you're claiming the reason for coming down hard on Sanders is to set an example to others. If that example isn't going to have any effect, there's no point in setting it. In fact your policy sets the example that the best thing to do with a problem is to keep it hidden rather than try to fix things. Which as a team is a bad thing - you'd rather not have players with substance abuse problems, but if they have those problems, you'd rather have them fixed than have the player wasted (in more than one sense...) If a player with a substance abuse problem refuses to try to address it, that's the time for cutting them loose. Of course, if you take that attitude with you to another team, you'll pretty soon run out of NFL teams. Better hope for expansion, get to love the CFL, or learn to accept dissenting opinions. Sex addiction, gambling addiction, some eating disorders all fall under this type of addiction. It is not an addiction in a physical sense where you have to do it whether you want to or not because you will suffer withdraw symptoms, but it is still real. Anything someone will continually do even when faced with negative consequences is considered an addiction whether it be mental or physical.
I wonder how much of this problem is the result of colleges looking the other way or lack of aggressive drug testing! Football is a big money maker for them, and that is always a problem in the world today! It may be a select few colleges that put money before a young mans education and moral development! If that is the case the NFL may list colleges that produce high risk players that may affect there drafting in the future. This would cause players to pass on there recruiting and go to another college if they are working towards an NFL career. Not sure I'm right about this but it may be worth looking into!

What about all the kids who go through business school only to fail a drug test at their work at some point in their career? Is that the college's fault too? What would aggressive drug testing do for a guy like Sanders? Get him kicked out of school? Do you really think he would be better off being uneducated, broke, and still probably doing drugs? |
