I bet I can make the same highlight reel of Gabbert in OTA's. There's no contact, no pressure and you're isolating the good plays and ignoring the bad. Everyone looks good if you do that.

See I would agree that they got a massive steal, save for the comments made and actions taken (or not taken) by the other thirty one teams. I loved him throughout the evaluation process but I know also that I don't know much.

 

If Belichek thought that Jimmy G in the second was better value than Teddy in the first... If Bruce Arians thought that freaking Logan Thomas in the fourth was a better value than Teddy in the first... And obviously these guys know QBs. I just trust the professionals, ya know?

 

I do think, however, that he went to the perfect situation. He's got a solid O line, the best running back in the game, and a more reliable Percy Harvin with Patterson. Combined with his pro-readiness, and I wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs this year. As I said, however... I trust our guys and I think the teams between us have more knowledge than I. I'm very happy with Blake.

lol, Yikes, I don't think he will be as bad as BG.

 

It would be hard to look as bad as BG looked during games while he was here.

 

Well anyway, didn't most scouts say he was the most NFL ready of all the QB's, he was just undersized and didn't have as much upside as the others.

 

At least that's what I kept reading about TB.

Blake Bortles led the second team to a touchdown with 3 passes during a 2 minute drill.

 

And he didn't even need 2 minutes!

 

In shorts, no less. Teddy wasn't even wearing shorts!

I'm not saying he's bad, I'm saying that even Gabbert looked good in practice most of the time.

 

A highlight reel of practice throws is unimpressive, and this one is even more unimpressive since he's not showing the thing you'd hope he'd show in this kind of situation. (arm strength)

 

I don't know that he'll be a failure at QB, but anyone that watched the video and came away thinking anything other than "okay, I look forward to seeing what he can do in a real game" is putting way too much behind a highlight reel of practice throws.

Bridgewaters best asset is his footwork.  In watching his Louisville games, he knows when to step up in the pocket and move side to side.  Reminds me a bit of Tom Brady -- not much movement but just enough to elude the rush.

 

That said, Bortles does the same but more in a style of Big Ben.  Step up, shrug off a few tacklers, they throw on the run or run for a gain.
