Raiders to relocate to San Antonio TX?

Quote:With the Raiders on a one-year lease at O.co Coliseum and with the A’s possibly getting a 10-year lease that would complicate efforts to tear the Cow (Pie) Palace down and build a new venue on the same site, Davis is exploring options in a state that already has a pair of NFL teams. This could get interesting...

As bad as they are trying to get LA a team...do you think they'll actually let them move to SA?
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:As bad as they are trying to get LA a team...do you think they'll actually let them move to SA? I think a LA team is a fantasy. The NFL has tried the "LA Experiment" twice, one team being the Raiders, and it failed miserably. Teams will continue to use the threat of LA as a means to force their current cities to foot the bill on new stadium projects. San Antonio on the other hand is a real possibility. Tom Benson was a half step away from moving the Saints to SA after Katrina.

San Antonio is a cool place. I would like to see them get a team. Regardless, we can't allow this to distract national sports media attention from rumors the Jags are moving to London.

True story. The original name for the Raiders was the Señors. So this makes sense. The original owner used to jokingly call people señor like people now use the word dude or bro. When he bought the team, he gave them that ridiculous name until the media panned it for a week or two and he changed it to the Raiders. They weren't silver and black originally either. Cannot remember the colors, but I want to say green, red and yellow. Not sure, but it was a hideous combo.
Only a chump boos the home team!
San Antonio deserves a franchise a lot more than the fickle, fake Los Angeles fans.
LA fans don't care unless they have a winner. And that's just not always going to be the case in the NFL. Even when they do have a winner - unless it's 'chic' to go to the games, they still won't go.

Gots to love the womens fans. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:True story. The original name for the Raiders was the Señors. I read about this in the FABULOUS book America's Game. Lots of great nuggets in that book. Like how Monsanto created Astroturf and how there was a conspiracy to get the whole league playing on it. The chemicals in the Astroturf wouldn't allow proper healing when players got, essentially rug burn. They would wake in the middle of the night with their sheets stuck to open wounds on their skin. They would have to take the sheets into the shower attached to their skin just to get them off.
Great read. I highly endorse that book. A little history shows just how far the game has come.

This story has legs:
http://m.nbcsports.com/content/mark-davis-acknowledges-san-antonio-visit Quote:“I was asked to meet two weeks ago with the owner of the Oakland Raiders, Mark Davis, and members of his staff,” Sculley wrote. “Mr. Davis has expressed interest in a possible relocation of his NFL team to San Antonio and we are engaged in preliminary due diligence. The agenda for this visit included a tour of the Alamodome and meetings with local business leaders.”

NBC sports really needs an editor, they spelled both Jaguars and London wrong.
Quote:It is a cool city...and the Raiders and Spurs already share the same color scheme!!San Antonio is a cool city and I think an NFL team would do well there.... and like Bchbunnie stated, they have the same color scheme as the Spurs which is pretty cool.
Wow, Didnt really see this coming. But doesn't effect my team at this point in time. Wonder how this will effect the whole LA needs a team dream?

LA is a dream and will remain a dream for a long time. You always hear about these billionaires wanting and willing to build a new stadium, but that's just all talk. All talk, no action. Until a new stadium in LA is actually approved and ground is broken, then things will get serious about football in LA.
Until then, LA is nothing but a dream. Meanwhile, San Antonio is a nice, big city with a decent stadium already there. Quote:And they're close enough to the border that they can keep their primary fan base! Lol. So true
Quote:As bad as they are trying to get LA a team...do you think they'll actually let them move to SA? Thats what I'm thinking as well. If the Raiders move it will be back to LA, IMO |
