How often do you watch The NFL Network?
|
First, let me say I am a huge NFL fan as I assume most of you are.
But rarely do I ever find myself wanting to watch the NFL Network. I like Path to the Draft, which is only on for less than two months in the spring. Other than that, most of the programs they air are unwatchable to me. I think part of is they fall into the ESPN/jockocracy trap. Where they hire the name athlete who brings nothing to a broadcast other than shouting catch phrases and saying outrageous things. I also think they (like ESPN) simply appeal to the lowest common denominator. Just wondering if anybody else feels the same. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:First, let me say I am a huge NFL fan as I assume most of you are. It's gotten much worse of the years. I watch their combine coverage, I'll watch their draft coverage, and if nothing else is on I'll turn to it on occasion to see some classic games or whatever happens to be airing at the time. Years ago I used to think their sportscenter style show, total access, was pretty decent. Now it's absolute garbage. I just don't care what Warren Sap or any of their other assorted washed up players think about anything going on in the league.
Yep, like ESPN, the NFLN started off really good, but once they deviated from what was quality and instead only started caring about trying for ratings it went down the crapper.
I watched NFLN when it first came out, but find myself watching Total Access less and less. Path to the Draft is probably my favorite of the programs they do. I also like the biopics they do on players, but they aren't all great. It's nice to watch replays in the offseason, but seeing as the Jags are never one of the teams, I rarely watch more than a few plays. NFL AM is garbage. I want to punch Mark Kriegel in his dumb mouth. He is a smarmy [BLEEP] who has a penchant for making cute, know-it-all comments even though he is just following water cooler trends. I still cannot bring myself to watch NFL analysis on ESPN however as it is even worse. The PFT show is decent, but is basically just regurgitating what they post on the site half the time.
Only a chump boos the home team!
I watch NFLN or ESPN (NFL Insiders or NFL Today, or whatever it's called) for it's news content, not it's opinions from former players.
And since there is usually not much news on any given day, I find myself not watching any of it all that much. I find myself reading more about the NFL than watching television. I enjoy reading information from journalists (Peter King, Don Banks, Mike Florio and PFT, a host of others, etc.) I'm not saying all former NFL players are bad analysts, because they are not, but what are they going to tell me that I need to know, or that I don't already know? I just want the news.

I used to watch Total Access on a nightly basis, but similarly to the popular sentiment here, I've found myself less interested in it to the point where I probably haven't watched it whatsoever for about two years now.
Depending on how much football I can catch on a Sunday, I might watch the Gameday recap to keep up with things and I still like the matchup show that Sharpe and Baldinger do, I forget the name, but I don't catch that on a regular basis anymore either.
Agree with everyone else in this thread. NFLN used to be great. Then they brought in that buffoon Jamie Dukes and it's been going downhill ever since. Mariucci, Eisen, Shefter and Deion were good, I used to watch NFLTA all the time as well as their weekly highlights show. Then along came Dukes, Sapp, and a plethora of other annoying ex players that spouted their unfounded opinions as gospel and I couldn't stand to watch it anymore. it's essentially ESPN now, just exclusively NFL.
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.

I watch NFL AM for the hot blonde woman... her name escapes me. But I can only hear Manziel so many times in a day.
No commercial messages in sigs
I watch NFL AM then NFL Access at 7:00 everyday....well nearly everyday until Mr. Johnny came along. I cannot believe someone can talk so much about a person who has never played.
Its going to really pick up with pre-season reruns games though. Quote:I watch NFL AM for the hot blonde woman... her name escapes me. I watch it everyday. When it's the offseason outside of the draft shows & biopics it's pretty so so. I don't watch it much then. When the season starts I pretty much watch everyday.
I have not had NFL Network in 2 years and do not miss it.
Quote:First, let me say I am a huge NFL fan as I assume most of you are. I used to watch it a lot, but lately, they have hired a lot of ex-football players who masquerade as "experts" but actually know very little. Heath Evans, Warren Sapp, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin. These guys are all just idiots. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Their best analysts are guys like Charles Davis and Daniel Jeremiah. But neither is a big name and doesn't shout out asinine things, so they don't get as much airtime.
Their best programming is around the draft. Part of it is because they don't put the morons on those broadcasts.
I love every segment with Sapp. Its hilarious to watch all the weird facial expressions he makes.
NFLN Redzone is about all I watch, except for the Draft ESPN sucks on the Draft night.
