Quote:Nope, forget about oil. Invest in renewables and bio diesel. Because solar has done so well. I'm all far alternative fuels - when a viable one that is economically feasible arrives. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Thats nice in theory, but what about those that for whatever reason lose their "careers" - even through no fault of their own such as their workplace going under?? Sometimes you can't immediately find similar/ equatable "career" work quickly.Well said It's real hard to get out from under the welfare line when all the jobs available to you keep you in poverty because you literally can't get out there and earn something yourself.
Quote:You don't think a candidate would win the majority black, latino, poor, and progressive vote with that platform? The problem you have is thinking all of those categories are actually homogenous. A lot of poor people vote republican out of racism religious wedge issues, plus minority groups aren't well known for turning out to vote. Besides that the entire basis of your argument is moronic. Every politician tries to convince people they're giving them what they want. Whether that's crackpot right-wing getting government out of their business (except for getting government into women's uterus) or left-wing getting government to recognize their gay marriage. It's not really as simple as you seem to think.
Quote:Nope, forget about oil. Invest in renewables and bio diesel.Unfortunately solar hasn't progressed enough for some area. Out here in the PNW it's cost prohibitive to have them on residential homes.
Quote:Unfortunately solar hasn't progressed enough for some area. Out here in the PNW it's cost prohibitive to have them on residential homes. Sure, it needs heavy government subsidy. It's part of what bothers me about FL. Here we are one of the southernmost states with A LOT of direct sunlight and no state solar subsidies to get the ball rolling. Once again it gets back to the whole issue of needing central authority to help. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Here we are one of the southernmost states with A LOT of direct sunlight and no state solar subsidies to get the ball rolling. California has more sunlight and had 700 million dollars and the state and federal governments backing them and they still bankrupted in a year. Sounds like a really sound business risk.

Infrastructure investment can't be seen as a year to year thing. Quote:You think the marginal cost of minimum wage workers has a significant bearing on the price of gas, entertainment, or transportation? I'll say it again, no wage is isolated it's a domino effect when you set any wage at X value.
Quote:The problem you have is thinking all of those categories are actually homogenous. I said a majority, not all. Last I checked, that's all you need. Obama got almost all of the black vote by virtue of being a black democrat and promising ACA. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

He didn't get the black vote because of being a black democrat and promising the ACA, he got almost all of the black vote because his platform is one of giving people a chance toward social mobility, while the republican platform is to pull the ladder up behind them once they've reached the platform.

Quote: Those are social issues. $15/hr min wage, reparations, and legalization are not.

Here we are one of the southernmost states with A LOT of direct sunlight and no state solar subsidies to get the ball rolling. That's not what I meant. What I meant was solar technology has not advanced enough to produce enough power in the PNW. It's cloudy like 80% of the year out here. A lot more R&D needs to be done to get it to work in all areas. This is not AZ/TX/FL here.

Quote:I'll say it again, no wage is isolated it's a domino effect when you set any wage at X value.Minimum wages have not gone up but neither have average wages for the sub 100k category. Like my pops works at a steel mill in Jax and sure he get standard raises yearly and such but its not like wages go up a ton compared to the rising profits. Shouldn't wages across the board go up in some proportion to increases in profits? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Then why didn't he receive similar numbers among whites, hispanics, and asians if it was all about platform. A large number voted for him because he offered them free healthcare, and the rest because he was black and a democrat. Hispanics are the next poorest ethnic group in the United States and that's where he got his second highest voting turnout; the hispanics who aren't poor didn't care if he was a black democrat. Polling numbers support this.
