Texans are close to acquiring Ryan Mallett

5/12, 42% completion percentage. No touchdowns, 4.6 ypa and a solid 55 passer rating. I have a feeling they might just try to move tom Brady and let mallett take the reins.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

If not, I know there has to be at least 50 teams willing to give him that big starter pay day.

I feel its important to point out that Mallett tallied most of these impressive stats playing against 2nd stringers on a 3 win team from last year.

I wanted to quote myself just because some of us here have known for a long time that mallett is a franchise QB and others are just starting to catch on.

It's so nice being ahead of the curve. Go ahead, pat yourself on the back now. You've earned it!

Quote:Mallett is a future franchise level QB, I've been saying this forever. Mayock & this Chris Wesseling have only recently started pimping this notion, but just further proof that Mallett isn't the scrub that most of this board wrongly spoke oif him being.

Kirk cousins looked good though. I'd take him over Mallet.

Quote:<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">The New England Patriots started Ryan Mallett at quarterback Thursday night against Washington, presumably hoping to showcase him to potential trade suitors. Again. His performance isn't likely to impress anyone.

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">Mallett completed 5 of 12 passes for 55 yards in one half of action. The Patriots didn't score with Mallett under center and lost to the Redskins 23-6

<div style="margin:5px;font-size:11px;font-family:arial;">

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">We saw troubling characteristics out of Mallett on Thursday that we have seen in many preseason appearances. He is not comfortable in the pocket, and he has erratic accuracy. One of his passes to an open receiver went into the ground. He hasn't consistently exhibited a good feel for the game during four years of preseason outings.

<p style="font-family:arial, verdana, helvetica;color:rgb(34,34,33);">"The fact that nobody Pats-related ever went after him speaks volumes," one NFC executive told NFL Media's Albert Breer about Mallett's trade value this week. "Plus, he can't help you this year, so why not just sign him as a free agent?"
Obviously this preseason game doesn't put the matter to bed..... but it don't look good for your boy.

(for the record -- I've never said Mallett was garbage - - only that I thought he'd have garnered more interest by now if he was the real deal)

He looked bad along with Gabbert but Ryan looked worse to me.

Maybe Ryan Mallett was just afraid of having to go to the Texans that he played that bad on purpose?

Mallett is as average as the day is long. But it won't stop some sucker team like Arizona or Houston from signing him this offseason.

Sounds like Mallet had a Gabbert-esque game.

Who was saying he's a franchise QB, again?

Maybe someone can help me here but I'm trying to think of which QB TMD wanted from the recent drafts. I've got teddy, Barkley, mallett, and lefevour right now.

Anyone remember others?

As of now only 1 of those probably has a shot at ever even being a starter for more than a season.

Minus teddy we are looking at career backups or NFL wash outs. Hahahahahahhaha
