How often do you watch The NFL Network?

Quote:I love every segment with Sapp. Its hilarious to watch all the weird facial expressions he makes.

This.  I don't know why people hate on him.  He's the most entertaining guy they have.

I like NFL network, but I haven't been watching TV in general lately and probably will end up dropping it when my contract is up.

LOL. I think the same applies to many posters.

Quote:First, let me say I am a huge NFL fan as I assume most of you are.

But rarely do I ever find myself wanting to watch the NFL Network.

I like Path to the Draft, which is only on for less than two months in the spring.

Other than that, most of the programs they air are unwatchable to me. I think part of is they fall into the ESPN/jockocracy trap. Where they hire the name athlete who brings nothing to a broadcast other than shouting catch phrases and saying outrageous things. I also think they (like ESPN) simply appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Just wondering if anybody else feels the same.
Rarely.  They've gotten pretty formulaic with their programming, and if it's a panel show discussing goings on around the league, every show is pretty much the same.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Watch it every night. Nothing is really bad about it. It's football after all, and I like Irvin, Sanders, and Sapp.

I do appreciate that they replay every preseason game.

When the Jags were winning I watched it every week.

So I haven't seen it in over 4 years.

Quote:Yep, like ESPN, the NFLN started off really good, but once they deviated from what was quality and instead only started caring about trying for ratings it went down the crapper.
This.

I don't subscribe to cable anymore and I only watch it when in hotel rooms traveling  -  and it's always a disappointment.

One of the programs I used to enjoy but it has been cut back a great deal was when they showed condensed versions of several games from the previous weekend with NFL Films portions included...  You could watch a whole game in 90 minutes including commercials and post game interviews about key plays...  NFL Rewind also has condensed games but that's not on my big screen TV...

These days, I think they only have a couple of games a week like that...

Otherwise...  I get Red Zone and I really wonder why they don't program more stuff on it since on the 2 places I have NFL Network, that channel stays vacant 8 months a year...    It would be great if they put replays of Sunday Red Zone on during the week or they put the condensed versions they have on the online Rewind Service..

Quote:I used to watch it a lot, but lately, they have hired a lot of ex-football players who masquerade as "experts" but actually know very little.  Heath Evans, Warren Sapp, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin.   These guys are all just idiots.
I kind of like Irvin, but maybe that is me being bias.  The other guys...eh

All in - I saved about $700-800  last year and still watched everything I wanted to.

I've been moving in the direction that NYC uses, mostly Apple TV and Netflix.

Sunday Ticket and HBO Go are the only two things keeping me beholden to the evil that is DTV.

HBO is the only thing that bothers me.  I have to either wait till the season ends and they put the episodes on iTunes/Amazon  -  or I sometimes hit up a relative for their HBO Go passwords.

For instance  --  I'm currently "behind" on Game of Thrones and just finished True Detective season 1.

Yep. With the amount of social media I use, waiting on the HBO shows is just impossible. Stand alone HBO Go is around the corner though!

The NFL Network sucks now. I want serious, straight to the point game analysis, no jokes, no cutesy dames reading off of cards, no corny mini games, no skits, just straight up football. I want the NFL Network to be like a news network, but with football. Break down plays, in depth analysis of every team by division, not the lollypop garbage it has become.

This is what I would do if I ran that corny network.

NFL AM: Okay, we can get a little dopey on this one, it's early in the morning, we can have a little fun. I'd still tone it down a little bit from what they do now.

More Football Documenteries (I can't spell it): The younger generation need to know how this all got started. Show the history of teams, the history of the game, how it evolved, how the game transformed into the product it is today.

A Football Life: Mix it up a little, show more historic figures as well as a few people who contributed to the game but may not be a house hold name!

Team Coverages (I suck at spelling): The league is more then the cowboys, patriots and the 49ers. Stop neglecting small market teams or teams not hyped up in the limelight, how about equal coverage of all 32 teams? Blake Bortles was drafted before Johnny Manziel but you never hear about Blake, or even Bridgewater for crying out loud.

Have a show that offers football knowledge: For an example, today in this episode we are going to be talking about the No huddle offense. What is the no huddle offense, and what teams have had success with this system, both past and present? Or, in this episode we are gonna break down the 46 Defense.

I like the path to the draft coverage.

Show more games both past and present condensed into 90 minutes.

More interviews with players, coaches, owners.

Do a series about football stadiums, the city that they are in, what to do in these cities for fun leading up to the game, how convenient it is to get to these stadiums, the history of these stadiums, stadium features and tailgating at these stadiums.

Do a show about uniforms, featuring one team every week. How did they choose the colors, how did the uniform evolve over the years.

Do a show about rivalries, documenting how they started, how the escalated, who won the most, interview players about the rivalry, fan input from rival fans!

There is so much this network can do, but they are either lazy or just don't GET IT. They literally have vaults of footage and football stuff sitting there collecting dust. This network SUCKS!

I'll find myself watching it from time to time, but a few times the content is so boring.
