Income Inequality and Fair Share

Quote:That's a really generalized question. Instead why don't you bring up an aspect of what you believe is our government that you'd like my input on and I'll share what I think is relevant.

Youre the one that said I don't understand the basic facets of our nation.  To which basic facets were you referring?  Or, just all of everything?  No need to explain.  Argument over.  FA01 just doesn't understand anything - debate over.

Quote:If you are indirectly insinuating that I am a conservative, then you are wrong.  I'm very moderate on social issues.

What very basic and profound facets am I missing out on?

Wealth needs to be redistributed from the wealthy to the poor to grow a strong middle class in order for capitalism to flourish?

I don't know which aspect of your political philosophies I disagree with the most.  Your love for socialism or authoritarianism.

I can debate the merits of socialism with people all day, it's when I find someone that WANTS authoritarianism I'm just baffled.

Nope. One last hint: we literally spend all day everyday talking about it.

You seem to be confused on what systems of government and systems of economics are. Our system of government is democratic republic. Our current economy is regulated capitalism. Through our government we can form the rules that the economy should be adhering to, but that's not the same as the system of government being the same as the current economic system.

That people are so confused about the differences between economy and governance is part of our current national problem, people don't understand that one of the functions of government is to attempt to guide the economy in a beneficial direction, not for business to dictate guiding economic conditions to the government.

I have no issues with socialism.  I'm just smart enough to know that socialism and capitalism don't work together.  Its water and vinegar.  Pick one or the other.

I would say that you are the one who is confused if you don't see how a country's system of economics plays a significant role in its governance.

I just said I understand how our economic system has perverted our governance and turned it upside down.

The solution to that problem isn't to give up more governmental power, the solution is for governmental power to break up economic power.

You are half way there, man.  The solution is to break up all power.  Nobody should have power over another individual.

Power is needed. When you have a vacuum of power something will step in to take the position of power.

The point of our system was to allow for the power to be in the hands of We The People. That you and so many like yourself are in such a hurry to surrender that power is the truly worrying thing about current society.

In a perfect world Communism is the perfect system, but the world isn't perfect and never will be so in practicality both communism and socialism are systems that will always lead to the greatest disparity between the have's and have not's.

So power in the hands of corporations is bad because they can be corrupt... But the government is immune to that?  The government ceased being We The People a long time ago.  It's now, We The 51%.

Power corrupts.  And absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Then you can move to Somalia and enjoy all of that freedom from government.

The government isn't immune to anything, the government is the power of the people. If you want to fix the problem you need to stop proliferating ignorance. Tell people who spout off about how the government is the problem that they're wrong, educate people in civics. Convince people to vote for good liberal ideas rather than for stupid wedge issues.

Or you can go live in Cuba if you want government controlling everything.

I just don't see how one man can cede all of his liberties to another man to make his decisions for him.  It just puts me at a loss for words....

Because you have it absolutely backward. If you want liberty then there's a price to be paid for that liberty, and it's keeping up a good and just government of the people by the people and for the people.

The kind of liberty that you're asking for can be had in Somalia right now. It's the kind of liberty that consists of only whatever you can manage to protect on your own.

The kind of liberty you currently enjoy is thanks to the efforts of people you spit on, people fighting to try to maintain a nation that protects the essential rights of even distrusting misanthropes.

It's easy for him, he thinks that his "team" will always be in power. He doesn't realize that his "team" doesn't care any more for him that it does for the other "team."

If you don't fit in Homie's box then you have no right to your ideas because his are superior. Duh.

I should've guessed that one earlier! haha yes the NFL is very much a form of socialism. Socialism works great when there's a limited amount of share holders and huge amounts of income. Not the case on a national level.

You really view yourself as a champion of the people huh? or maybe it's government that's the peoples champion?

Was government protecting the peoples rights when it enforced segregation? or how about when government enforced slavery? maybe when government put the Japanese and German Americans into prison camps? Oh wait it's when they took your hard earned money and bailed out the banks! No I got it government was protecting the people with the war on drugs!

Or you can pay the price for government control in Cuba.  You and everyone except the elite will receive your food rations.  You can get as far in life as your government will allow for its own best interests.  You can enjoy all of your authoritarian governance along with fellow neutered indoctrinated mass who believe it is you who owe the government something for being alive in their country.
