I'm most amazed at how far their offense has fallen off the cliff.  It's not like Schaub was a special signal caller.  He was (I suppose "was" being the key word) efficient enough with the football.

 

I also don't think an aging Andre Johnson can entirely explain it, either.

 

Maybe it's simply the attrition and incremental decay all around the offense.  Just as I don't really think the Texans are as bad as they seem, at the top of the division I don't think the Colts are really as good as their record, either.  Both teams' fortunes, I believe, could quickly turn in the opposite direction.

As for the Colts...I saw a reference to an article that posited they had the worst roster in the league aside from Luck.  Im not sure if I would go quite that far, but I know they have holes in their roster, especially along the O-Line.

As for the Colts...I saw a reference to an article that posited they had the worst roster in the league aside from Luck.  Im not sure if I would go quite that far, but I know they have holes in their roster, especially along the O-Line.

 

Matt Schuab fell off because the offensive line and defense deteriorated drastically. Schaub needs a clean pocket, a strong running game and defense to be a competent QB; he doesn't possess the arm talent or athleticism to compensate for those deficiencies. He was exposed for what he was last year, a QB that can't produce if the pieces around him aren't elite; he's an older version of Andy Dalton. That's what's so impressive about Andrew Luck, that guy will produce no matter how good the talent is around him, Blake Bortles (at UCF) showed similar qualities, that's what makes a true franchise QB, a guy that can elevate the level of play of everyone around him.

He got plenty of yards, but yards always have been and always will be practically meaningless in a league where teams often just try to keep things in front of them and wait for the field to become compressed as teams get close to the red zone.

 

What matters with QBs is how they perform in the pressure moments of games and Schaub has always come up short in those times.
