He hasn't looked that bad to me. He's knee is fully healed because he's showing speed and quickness. Just shouldn't have been drafted where he was selected.

He may or may not be with the team next year but if he is it would be good for depth... he's not played all that bad he just hasn't played to a high level he should have for where he was drafted...

Hey now, there are plenty of Blaine Garbage threads out there, go bash that guy somewhere else.  We're here to bury Alualu, possibly Gene Smith some more.  Pick up your Blaine Garbage and go take iit outside, thank you very much.

 

As for Alualu, I stayed optomistic his rookie year, but honestly, I only would recognize him as an impact on a play every so often.  His DT position obviously made it difficult for him to stand out...  However, we've had DTs that were monsters--  Stroud and Henderson, and those two bad dudes ALWAYS stood out.  If GS was looking for that time of DT when he picked Tyson, he whiffed big time.

 

Man miss that D with Henderson and Stroud on the D-Line...  Good times in days gone by.  Teams feared our D.  We need to get back to that.

Its gonna be tough to just release Alualu, remember, he was the year before the rookie salary cap. He is in the last year of his contract next year. It would be a cap hit to release him. I think he will play out his deal. Why not? He is not horrible. He is a decent starter, no need to make another hole. Im no Alualu fan, and he will probably be gone after his deal is finished, but id like to see a more competitive product on the field next year. Dont make the defense worse than it needs too. We still have to address QB and O line. Those are the priority. 

 

Keep Alualu at LDE next year, try and find a pass rusher in FA or the draft.
