Just start Bortles already
|
Play Bortles the whole 4th preseason game and let him light up the other team in front of the home crown. WE DESERVE IT.

You obviously are the one having problems with reality junior, as I already said (possibly in this thread) that Henne would start week one. Now excuse me while I recover from my aneurism. My lunch just got here. Keep it real jocko. ![]()

WE DESERVE IT.This haha..I get the feeling we are only keeping two quarterbacks with one going to the practice squad. Might as well give Bortles most of the last meaningful reps he's gonna get till he's named starter.
I think there are two camps of people now. Those who see who the better QB and see just how far he's progressed. And those who see the same thing but are afraid. It'll never be the perfect scenario for starting him. Waiting for this reason or that will do nothing but give Henne all the reps in practice. That's what happens when you're the starting QB. Bortles should be starting. Period.
I don't want to drive to the stadium. Park in the hood. Sit in the heat. And watch Stanzi play next week. It's not what I call the Jaguar Experience.... tickets going to charity.

Yeah, I didn't read any of your posts that said he believed he was starting. What I read was your comments that were rather antagonistic towards my thoughts, so I replied in kind. Either way, no harm no foul. Have a great lunch, don't eat too much.

Remember, it's still preseason, Bortles hasn't even seen a regular season defensive scheme yet. Give him time.
Quote:So are you saying the coaches are afraid? He's gonna start sooner or later but their is no harm in letting the offense gel a little bit. Good chance the first 4 games of the season is gonna consist of 2-3 rookies starting in the receiving core. Granted, those rookies have played well they are probably gonna make there share of rookie mistakes.
The only way he can see a NFL defense is while he is playing in the game not on the sideline.

Quote:So are you saying the coaches are afraid?I think he's referring to the hesitation in some of the fans who still think Bortles isn't 'ready' to play over Henne (which could be misconstrued as a fear of rushing a QB before he's 'ready' i.e. a Gabbert Complex). At this point Bortles has played to where the only next step for development is live action. After last nights showing, I'll be smh if they don't announce him the starter before the eagles game. For the record, I never wanted Bortles to be rushed--he's showing he has it all on his own.
No one is safe.

I think Dave and Gus both want Bortles to be left to free agency in their Fantasy Football keeper leagues. That way they can pick him up, and then be SURPRISE! BORTLES IS STARTING
To which their fantasy football opponents will be like :o <_< ![]() ![]()
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
If you removed the "HENNE" of the back of Chad's jersey and replaced it with "SERVICEABLE" he still wouldn't be a serviceable QB. I never bought that argument and I don't buy all the praise Gus is heaping on him either. He does not move the offense down the field. The second we got the ball on the 25 yard line, I told myself, "There's no way we get six even from here." Give me a developing, "gonna make mistakes" Bortles who has shown poise in the pocket and escaped sacks right now over the body of work Henne has put together. Our schedule starts out tough. Chad inspires zero confidence. Give the team a chance to come out hot.
Only a chump boos the home team!
Start Bortles. He has earned the starting job based on performance, teammates seem to rally around him more than Henne, few want to buy tickets to see Henne command an ineffective offense, and Bortles will learn more on the field. Will Bortles make mistakes? yes...it's part of development.
I also think a lot of people are forgetting something. This is the same Chad Henne that couldn't win the starting job in training camp and preseason over Blaine Freaking Gabbert.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Ultimately this is a call that Gus and Dave will have to make, but I still think they'll wait before starting Bortles. I have been in the camp that Blake would end up being a starter around the bye week, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him step into the starting role much sooner than that based on how far he has progressed. Still, I don't think they're going to rush into starting him right away. Yes, he looked good against Detroit's first team. The regular season is a completely different animal.
