NCAA bad weather rules
|
I don't get it. Over a hundred players and coaches fly all the way from Idaho to Florida only to bspend three hours waiting for a thunderstorm to end. Why didn't the game get moved up to 3:30 when a thunderstorm was forcasted for sometime around 7:00 p.m.? The NFL has moved games before kickoff because of bad weather and fields. Meteorologists are able to forecast not only days but time ranges lightning is expected, so they could have been prepared for this. Instead the NCAA makes them wait for the thunderstorm to end only to figure out by the time it does, everyone needs to go home. That is not fair to anybody at the stadium except the concession sellers.
Another option would have been to simply reschedule it for October 25, when both teams have a bye, so Idaho players would not have to waste time flying cross country. But the weather was fine earlier, so just moving the kickoff time would have been good enough to avoid the storm if anyone knew it would start shortly after 7:00. What is the NCAA rule that forced thousands of people to wait three hours for a play that never happened? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
There were lots of COX Cable ads last night at BHG with everyone staring at screens looking at weather maps and other college games.... The storm last night was odd that it just didn't move fast and hung over Gainesville for all that time and actually moved back east...

Im pretty sure Idaho was celebrating the fact they were not going to get pummeled by a score of 73-9. They got their check so thats all that matters.
In regards to the game, the cancellation made sense. The players couldnt sit after another long delay and stretch again especially with the playing field not suitable for play. I dont see the game being made up as it would be really unfair to both teams as they would have to play 11 or 12 games straight without no bye.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Quote:They have a bye on 9/27 too. Yeah just saw that and Idaho's is on 10/25. Dont know how that would work if they did decide to reschedule.

I am pretty sure the Vandals wanted to play the game. I am not complaining about the cancellation. What I don't understand is why they waited three hours to cancel it. Quote:Yeah just saw that and Idaho's is on 10/25. Florida's bye is also on October 25, so they can make up then if they want. Just wondering, would it hurt Florida in any way to play only 11 games this year? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
