Jags outscored 33-0 in the second half. Is it the players or the coaches

I agree. Rah rah. He gets you hyped up when he's interviewed by Dan Hicken and Sam Kouvaris. But he's no Bill Walsh. More like JDR.

I'm far from jumping on registering firegusbradley.com, but a 4-13 record is nothing to be proud of, especially with 4 wins coming against ham sandwich teams.

It's so easy. All Gus has to do is say the words, and he immediately looks good.

Right. Because Philly couldn't have possibly made halftime adjustments to shut Hurns down in the second half. Any time Henne threw his way in the second half, he was in double coverage. Henne still went his way and then the drops started.

What we're talking about began in the 2nd Q, chief.

Quote:Once we got up 17-0, we completely stopped doing what got us there. They stopped going deep to Hurns and pulled the ole Del Rio "play not to lose" thing. Never works out well.

Yup, the Jaguars stopped sacking Foles while stripping the ball. That's what got them there.

I long for a QB who can throw to a spot where there is no wide receiver currently standing, but will be there in 1 second. Wouldn't that be great?

Oh, wait...we have one.

Gus Bradley assembled this roster, one cannot use it as an excuse for Bradley's poor record.

If we are in a permanent rebuild, then nobody will ever be liable for poor play.

If they hadn't seemingly got fat off the 17-0 lead it might have been more.

They lost their edge at that point (at 17-0, not at halftime) and stopped the PA and long shots downfield. They were content dinking and dunking everything at that point.

What are you talking about? You didn't even give them a chance to win this game. The fact that they were up 17-0 at the half is a testament to Bradley and Caldwell.

They inherited an empty cupboard a year ago and have overturned the roster in barely a year. 39 of the 53 players on this roster weren't here a year ago.

They hung with a playoff favorite for nearly the entire game and dominated them the entire first half. Yet, if they'd listen to you (which thank God they won't), they'd fire the coach because he "didn't make 2nd half adjustments."

Good God you're dumb. Way to look at the big picture there guy.

This team will be in the playoffs in less than two years by doing nothing more than igoring you and your stupid advice.

The offensive play calling tightened up. The defense still met the challenge and pitched a shutout in the first half. Philly took Hurns out of the equation in the second half, and the end result was the deep ball disappeared.

I love how you bring up nonsense that doesn't matter.

The only things that matter in this discussion is that they in fact were up 17-0 today and blew it. They blew it because they lost their killer instinct while hitting 17-0 lead. They stopped doing the things on offense that got them there.

When you start playing "not to lose" you often wind up losing.

Quote:This team has a history of opposing teams making adjustments at halftime to dominate the Jaguars.  The Jaguars usually come out the second half lost and uninspired.   What is the real issue?
Not enough guts from the coaching staff to remain aggressive with play calling or do pull the trigger on putting BB in.  Henne played OK...as usual.  BB can play OK with the potential to play great.  We should have kept the throttle at 100% with the play calling and BB need to be given the chance to start.  Otherwise, just lose out and secure the #1 pick for next year.

And, dare I say it, Henne threw some really nice touch passes that guys dropped. The difference in the second half was that Philly quit holding the ball in the backfield. Foles took the snap and the ball was gone before the D could get there. Then they just ran the Jags out of gas with the superior talent. But the fact is that the Jags played them tough for a while and that is already an improvement over last year.

Truth be known we only played tough for about 20ish minutes.  Fisch took his foot off the pedal about 10 mins before halftime and that was the end.  The lack of aggressive play calling led to 3 and outs over and over and the D got gassed when Philly was let back in the game.
