Gus has to start Bortles now (MERGED)

Quote:I personally don't understand how anyone thought the Jags would beat Philly. Philly's offense is amazing. I never thought the Jags had a chance.

Being up 17-0 and blowing the lead is why everyone's bickering

34 unanswered points in a half is inexcusable

I'm sorry but better QB play would have given this team a "chance" to win that game.  Chad Henne is Chad Henne and I didn't expect anymore from him, he is what he is.

Start Blake Bortles and see what happens.  Magically this team will play better as the QB play improves.

LOL the only thing comparable is the amount of letters in each's full name.

So, when Henne was hitting his receivers and they were dropping those passes, would they magically have caught the same passes because they came from the hand of Bortles?
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Maybe, he throws a better ball than Chad.  He's shown the ability to throw a receiver open that Chad hasn't done.  He's shown better anticipation of the route than Chad Henne has done.  He has a better arm than Chad, period.

I'm not saying Chad is the entire problem.  He isn't.  But he is no part of the solution.  Part of the solution is on the bench.

He threw a high ball to a wide open lewis on 4th, had a horrible third down throw to an open mike brown. He was bad in the 2nd half. There were drops, but he missed on a lot of key throws. He rarely, if ever, throws a perfect ball.

Yeah, that's laughable if true.

You are harping on 2 drops to try to prove a point that I don't think you even truly want to believe.

The guy just doesn't have "it". He blew all the timeouts in the 2nd half, continues to have balls batted down, can't throw an accurate pass to a 6'6" guy 10 feet in front of him..... he is what he is.

Quote:Looking off the secondary is his strength? That's news to me.  The only one of those I would consider his "strength" is knowing the system.

lol, that is a pretty weak strength, but I was just listing what another poster said.

I am really just trying to find out what Henne's strengths are.

I just can't come up with anything except maybe toughness.

Does he have any real strengths??

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

He knew the offense so well he burned those timeouts.

Despite how it may seem, I like Henne, he's doing what is asked of him.  He's not a starting QB at the NFL level and it's showed year after year.  He's a good enough backup and guy to have in the meeting room, he's a good professional off the field and good to have around but you don't want him as your full time guy.   He's one tough [BLEEP], he's taken some shots and gets back up.

And they both played QB for the Dolphins and they are both white and they are both right handed.

Yeah, I know I am reaching, but that's about it as far as comparing the 2.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

I dont like anyone who's given a job that was earned by our first round draft pick. I like him as a tutor, but he can tutor with a damn clipboard. This idea that bortles can't learn by playing is complete nonesense. It isnt rational.

That isn't Chad's fault.  What's he supposed to do, bench himself?

I agree and I've been fully on the start Bortles bandwagon and today further confirmed it for me.  He needs to play, now.

So the fact that the plays were coming in slowly from the sideline had nothing to do with the clock management issues. It's all on Henne.

Only if you count their first and last names (with the shortened version of Daniel)

Daniel Constantine Marino

Chad Steven Henne

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Is the slow plays coming in a fact or fabricated?
