What's Not To Like About Brett Hundley

Big guy, big arm, mobile, and accurate. I hope his games vs Stanford and Mariota and the Oregon Ducks are telling. I like him as a prospect

Just because he isn't a Teddy/Mariota level prospect doesn't mean we don't like him. He is still a better prospect than Boyd, Manziel, Mettenberger, etc to me. He just has to work on a lot of stuff. He also is not that accurate. He might be the best 'developmental' QB prospect. He shouldn't be starting right away but a year or two down he could be a very good NFL QB.

He's just a Soph. so he might not even come out, him and Mariota both should stay in school unless they are def going top 3, Geno Smith was suppose to be a sure top ten pick and slipped, being a Soph more coming out early and not going high was be a huge mistake.

Word is he's already talking to agents and wants to be in this draft pretty bad. Assuming he doesn't implode down the stretch or get some major injury I think he is the most likely of all the underclassman to declare.

I would take him over Mariota who I feel is more flash then anything, Hundley is a legit QB.

According to Pauline, scouts he spoke with say he is overrated.

I agree 100%.

Overrated accuracy, decision making, ability to go through reads. I'd take Mariota over him easily.

You are in the very small minority.

My biggest problem with Hundley is that he just takes FOREVER to get moving or get the ball out of his hands. He hangs on to the ball way too long which leads to a lot of his errant throws.

Definitely Boyd over Hundley. Boyd has the best throwing motion of any QB in this class, including Teddy. I actually like Boyd a lot as a prospect. Very mature, smart and well spoken. He's just not as pro ready or has a high ceiling like Teddy.

Also, avoid Mariota. Neither he nor Hundley are NFL ready. They need to do what Boyd did and stay another year. Mariota is more or less a product of that Oregon team. Put Boyd, Manziel or any other spread offense/read options qb on that Oregon team and he'll look just as good as Mariota.

They are close.  It just depends on what a team is looking for.

Boyd is a high floor player

Hundley is a high ceiling player

We should target Boyd if we can't get Teddy, but someone like Hundley might be perfect for Pittsburgh as a developmental prospect.

I like Hundley and think he's farther along than most it appears.

Yes, if I am going to commit to giving him the time to develop that he needs. His tools dwarf Boyd's.

It is like comparing Andy Dalton to Blaine Gabbert in 2011.

If I had to sum up my thoughts about him as a QB in one word, it would be: "Lumbering"

And I'm not talking about his foot speed, but just his movements in general seem to be a bit slow.

Hundley could become the next Gabbert should he enter the draft this year. All the physical tools and looks great in practice, but he's clearly not ready for the pro game yet.

The thing I don't like about Hundley is his rep counter; he just hasn't had that much time under Center. He has all the tools that you could want, but he needs to figure out how to use them to his advantage when Defenses game plan for him after they have played him.

Let's consider T. Tebow's last season in Denver, his playoff run. While you may have thoughts/feelings about his following, it is no stretch to say that he was a truly dominating collegiate football player. He played very well when he first earned the starting spot in 2011, but then he encountered something that very few College Quarterbacks experience; he had to play the same team twice in the same season. In his second game vs. Kansas City, he was featured more as a passing QB -- he only threw eight passes in the first game -- and he ended up posting the infamous six for 22 game the second time around.

Now we get to Hundley. He faced Stanford in back to back games last season and his accuracy actually went up but his Yards / Pass went down. Now let's see how he does this weekend when he faces an opponent that has had an opportunity to both experience his play and scout his tendencies. Hundley needs this game, but more importantly he needs all the reps in college that he can get in my opinion.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

My response in the other thread:

OK I just got done watching 2013 cut ups of Brett Hundley's passes and attempts this year and I'm really failing to see the hype. He loves the checkdown, struggles completing passes over 15+ yards, and when he senses pressure his mechanics go to hell and he throws off his back foot. If we are going to compare anyone to Gabbert.....its him. Oh and the Jags scouts are expected to be at UCLA this week. Wallbash
