911 tapes and reports from his wife sounds like he wasn't that innocent nice guy like what was trying to be portrayed. Told wife at 10:30 good night then was missing from the house. Ran a couple off the road in a road rage incident and then wrecked. If true this is yet another black eye for the NFL; listen to the 911 tapes posted online. They didn't know who this guy was just that he was acting crazy.

This story has gotten a bit bizarre, but when the dust settles, I'm betting he was taking something like Ambien.  I've read some crazy things about adverse reactions to that particular drug.

yeah ambien has some crazy sides and there is also some other OTC drug that people have been abusing lately, i cant recall which one right now, but it elevates their blood pressure and usually causes extreme bouts of rage.

 

someone was actually on it at the bar i was working in ny a couple months ago, threatened to shoot me, went outside and punched out the giant plate glass window, trying to grab me through the window.

 

his friend took him away from the bar (turns out he was a heroin dealer, but i guess didnt use the product) even though he knew police were coming for him and he was bleeding out from cutting a lot of main blood vessels in the wrist, he refused to give his friend his supply.... he got charged with multiple things including resisting arrest, possession, vandelism, and even hate crime because of the way he was talking to the officer.

 

he kept taking whatever it was and got arrested a week later for threatening to shoot the staff at a neighboring bar.

Sounds like some road rage. Or maybe just driving erratically. But by all accounts it doesn't sound like him. Weird. Tragic.

He was a very good kicker, but he was drafted in 2005.  The Oilers became the Titans in 1999.  He had been the same age as Scobee when he came out, he'd have joined the Titans in 2000.

Such a strange, sad story reading about his death and what I assume were his final moments... Bironas was literally automatic against us. I remember always making comments during the games about not being able to remember a time when he missed a kick against us... I still can't. Dude seemed like he was always drilling 50+ yarders right down the middle every time we played Tenn.

Actually he missed one against us in 2006 -- 44 yarder.  

Again in 2012 -- 42 yarder

and a long 66 yard field goal miss in 2011 (end of 1st half)


Still only 3 misses against us in his career is very impressive.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke. 

He was a nice guy. Last year he was signing balls, hats, etc and tossing them to Titan fans in the stands..for all the crap my son and I gave him every year he tald my kid to keep it up and tossed him a ball too. 

 

Dude had a back problem of some sort, he's the only guy I've seen that brought his own massage table with him and was stretched/popped/aligned after every kick.

 

Wouldn't be surprised to see it was Ambien or something. Just a weird story. RIP

According to Fraley, the driver of the truck pulled up to Bironas' vehicle at an intersection around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, and Fraley informed Bironas of a burning smell coming from Bironas' white SUV.


"He looked over at me and said "I'm going to kill everybody in your (expletive) vehicle. It was so random, so bizarre I was like, "What?" And he said the exact same thing again."

Something definitely triggered some erratic behavior on his part.  I've heard stories about Ambien in particular being one of those drugs that can do exactly that.  My wife took it for a little while, but after waking up in the middle of the night seeing spiders on the floor and people with machetes coming to get her, I convinced her to ditch it.  Of course, I also sold my machete collection and called the exterminator.
