How Will Bortles Survive Behind This Line!

You call the majority of comments conversing and arguing points? I'm trying to read the pros and cons. 80 % is name calling or trying validate their points with I told you so, hypotheticals and who knows what's best.

Try sitting at a game and watching this team. It's no fun when you see the results and the WHOLE problem to some and the remedy was the QB.

I, too, wanted BB to sit for a while. But under yesterday's circumstances, I get it. Let's see what he can do. The game isn't on the line, so no risk besides injury. Can't play scared, and I saw the future, heard the crowd and finally saw some life in a Jaguar on life support.

But those thinking our issues are solved? Good luck. Did I say Luck? Oh yeah, the Luck that made the D look pathetic.

Lets see how it is measured as teams actually gameplan to stop him.. This is the response I am interested in!

In a way it was smart to put him in during the 2nd half to boost his confidence against the clots.

That will be interesting to see.  I would like to see how our offense game plans for the opposing team's defenses in the future now that we can actually move the ball.

In order to rebuild, you have to destroy.

Luck did make our defense look pathetic.  They were also on the field way longer than they should have been.  I know they started out bad from the start, but that doesn't dispute that they should have never been on the field that much in the 1st half.  I have sat through the games and watched the team.  Just because I don't live in Florida don't make the mistake of thinking I haven't watched the team in the stands.  "By saying try sitting at a game and watch this team" you are assuming I haven't been there to do that.  I can assure you I have.  It's an 8 hour drive for me to get there to watch a game but I still go win/lose whether we suck or not.

I believe we will keep doing the same things on offense.  I believe it is designed better for BB5.  However, I believe the real test of how effective this change will be will occur when we face a defense that will be prepared to TRY to take Bortles abilities away.

Quote:I think there are bright points. Our reciever corps is going to be very good. Not sure about Lee but the Allen Hurns pickup helps there and I think Lee will come around eventually. People seem to think Storm Johnson could be a nice add to tge running game once he figures out the blocking scheme. Beadles has been disappointing but Linder is playing well for a rookie. And of course, Bortles. Guess I'm just an optimist.

Yeah I think you're more optimistic than most.

Linder is not playing well, even for a rookie.

I do agree with the receivers having a lot of potential and Bortles.  And that's about it.

Very valid point. I think initially Bortles may struggle with turnovers. The flipside of being a guy willing and capable of throwing it all over the field. With some experience, some decent recievers and a little bit better protection though, it won't *matter* what the defense schemes. ;-)
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Yes Gus keeps warning that there will be growing pains. We have a very young team. It will be interesting to see how BB5 will mature.

That will be the best way to truly evaluate where he's at.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

At least we can get on with that process. If Henne had somehow played acceptable and Blake sat most the year, we would still be saying next season, "Oh wait til they gameplan for him". By the end of this year we can get a good idea of how good he can be.

The guy can just play. He can generate offense on his own just by running the ball. We weren't even moving the line of scrimmage before he stepped in. I think things like option plays and his own ability to play off the cuff will make us a better offensive unit. With that said, I fully expect games where he throws 3 picks but I also believe he may have a 5 td game because that's just his playing style.

They held him to 3 pts on his opening drive. Then they almost made it to the bench for a thirty second break before Chad went 3 and out and they were back on the field.

Its like comparing home made Cola versus Coca-Cola, you know the difference....

Blake POPS out at you, while Chad well theres a reason no team wants Chad to start for their franchise....

That's part of what I was trying to say.  With Bortles in, we will hopefully have longer sustained drives that we come out with points on.  This will keep the defense off of the field longer so they don't have a 2 minute breather before having to run back in and do it all over again.

As Bortles goes through those growing pains, it would be logical to see more turnovers in the beginning. Turnovers lead to more defensive side.. In short, this defense will have to get it together. The clots scored on every possession in the first quarter.. So I don't buy that 3 and outs gassed the defense. They were awful

Really so a massive difference in time of possession has no effect on the defense?

Maybe the first two possessions can make this true but our offense took an entire half and change to get a first down. There was no ball movement from our offense. The defense needs to start better but to think playing 12 of the 15 first quarter minutes helped them is just wrong.

At some point the offense has to move the ball. There are no more shutouts like the ravens in 2000 did. We have to scale the thinking here. To me shutting a team out now is holding them to 10-14 points. Teams are going to score and move the ball. They have changed the rules to make this happen. When a ball control team like the clots put up 44 that mean we did absolutely nothing on offense. We didn't even change the field posistion.

The clots constantly started on the 35 plus. That stuff matters.

The game was also 10-0 at the end of the first quarter. We were still in it.

I think Bortles will do fine. The OL needs time to gel, but I will say I wish there was someone out there we could target via FA or a trade that could help improve the interior of the OL.

You really shouldn't underestimate "The Henne Effect" on the defense, or even the offense, for that matter.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
