Wisconsin Rbs

Quote:Besides the fact that Ron Dayne is the NCAA career rushing leader and had more TDs than Dorsett. Was Dayne better than Dorsett? No, but once again this is about statistics. Pitt's top guy doesn't definitely trump Wisconsin's best. At best, it's a wash.Basing this off stats is ridiculous. That says all I need to know.

Quote:I've seen a couple people mention Wisconsin RB James White. I have to pass on James White. I don't think he will be much in the NFL. When John Clay left, it was suppose to become the James White show, but he quickly became the 2nd option behind Montee Ball. When Montee Ball left, it could have been the James White show, but he once again finds himself the 2nd best RB on the Badger's depth chart. The original post states it isn't about actual talent. The whole point was: A: Huge college numbers B: Duds in the NFL You tried to say other schools had RBs with better college numbers, which simply isn't true. Now you won't even acknowledge the fact that you were mistaken. Quote:The original post states it isn't about actual talent. The whole point was:No, the original post indicated that you thought Wisconson was RBU. It was stated on here by numerous posters that to be "RBU", "LBU" etc., that those players were good to great players in the NFL. I could care less how you want to pigeon hole an argument. Dorsett is better than any RB that Wisconson ever had., at the collegiate level and the NFL level. Period.

How bad is your comprehension? The thread was made to show why we shouldn't get fooled by Wisconsin's RB numbers. Wisconsin can plug average RBs into their system and they run for 1,000+ yards like it's nothing. I referred to Wisconsin as Running Back U because no other school can plug in runningbacks year after year that light up the gridiron. I've stated in many posts that it has nothing to do with actual talent or NFL careers.
Statistically, Wisconsin has had the best runningbacks in college football history. Talent wise, not so much. I believe Melvin Gordon is an exception to this rule. I believe James White is another product of Wisconsin's system. THAT was the point of this thread. Quote:How bad is your comprehension? Pay attention to the first thread, or just parts of it so that you can make the puzzle work?

Pay attention to the first thread, or just parts of it so that you can make the puzzle work? Again, that is semantics. I used Running Back U in the wrong context, apparently, and conceded that already. That doesn't take away from the point. You still, for some reason, think other colleges have had more success running than ball than Wisconsin, for some reason. Quote:<div> Dude. Wisconsin. It's not hard. How many times do you have to read the word to realize you're not spelling it right?! </div> Quote: This is dead-on.
On Wisconsin.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Regarding the school that produced the best RB's over the years, adding my two cents, I would put Oklahoma near the top of the list. Some of the very high quality RB's from Oklahoma that come to mind are as follows.
1. Adrian Peterson 2. Billy Sims 3. Steve Owens 4. Greg Pruitt 5. Joe Washington 6. Demarco Murray We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

All 6 of the players I listed were highly productive with the Sooners. Including two Heisman Trophy winners and a number of runner ups. Two other RB's from Oklahoma that were productive at Oklahoma when given opportunities in crowded backfields were Kenny King and the late David Overstreet. For years, Oklahoma was a RB factory. Both in terms of starters and depth. Considering that they produced Adrian Peterson and DeMarco Murray in the last decade, it's still a school worth that warrants very close attention at the RB position,
Sims and Owens won the Heisman. Owens won the Hesiman on an average team. AP was a stud in college as well, not just in the pros. Pruitt holds the all time per rush average of all time, a tenth of a yard shy of 10 a carry.
Can't forget Marcus Dupree. Had he stayed in school, probably the best RB of all time in college. He blew it out of the water when he played at OU, scary good.

It's rare when a book is written about a college football recruit like was the case with ' The Courting of Marcus Dupree'. If Dupree would have remained with Oklahoma and would have avoided the devastating knee injury he suffered in the USFL, he probably had the talent to potential be a College and an NFL HOFer. Dupree is a great example of the tremendously talented RB's OU was able to recruit under then HC Barry Switzer. As great of a program Nebraska was in the 1970's and 1980's, in most seasons they seemed one or two steps behind Oklahoma. It would be interesting if we could put many of the Oklahoma teams from the 1970's and 1980's in the modern SEC, with all of the great competition that conference has each season. My guess is many of those Oklahoma teams would be at or near the top of today's SEC. All of those OU backs are in (or will be, AP) in the college football hall of fame.

I can't believe I am advocating the Gators, but haven't they had some big time running backs in the past? Also, couldn't Tebow be included in their all time rushing stats since this seems to be something you all are using.

2015 NFL Draft - Analyzing Targets www.jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/topic/7892-2015-nfl-draft-analyzing-targets/ Quote:Melvin Gordon in round two please!Gordon is solidly the best RB in this class, assuming he declares, and will comfortably be a 1st rounder too. Very studly. Quote:Or Storm Johnson.Meh, I think that's a reach for Storm for one and I also think RB at 33 would be a bit too much of a luxury pick. |
