What Traits do you want to see from Bortles?
|
Quote:I'm still writing that off to first game nerves and shorter practice time. I think he cleans that up a bit this week. Yeah that was just him being nervous. I also think he was more so seeing where he was throwing wise. I think he was making some throws he wouldn't have tried in a closer game. When he stepped in it was over. I think he wanted to just make some plays and get his first gams gitters out. Throw some touchdowns and picks and move forward. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:I want to see him making a blitz pay for it. This. Would love to see him audible g at the LOS, checking into plays that are successful. I'd like to see him scare teams into taking guys out of the box, opening up the running game

I'd like to see him scare teams into taking guys out of the box, opening up the running game Exactly, I'm wanting a General as a qb not a manager. We have had nothing but the latter for so long its depressing. On top of that I'd like to consistantly see the ball come out in under 2 seconds. Im not saying he doesnt get it out quickly already, it's just something I'm wanting going forward. I dont want him getting his [BLEEP] kicked every game. We all know he can manufacture a play when pressured. Its exciting and almost essential in todays NFL but I just dont want it to be a theme.

What traits I already see:
Ability to move or freeze a safety Scanning field Stands tall in pocket Climbs pocket Improvisation Mobility Toughness
Last game I thought he did NOT do a great job looking off the safety on a couple throws. I'd like to see him do better there. Other than that he has been amazing.

1. A scruffy beard. Get tough looking.
2. Standing tall in the pocket, taking a hit, them popping back up and shoulder brushing the D-lineman as he walks back to the pocket to call the next play. 3. Roll out and run when opportunities are there - make the linebackers hold instead of dropping off into coverage. And when he scores, mimicking the Superman shirt pull. 4. Hitting open receivers down field, throwing the ball away when coverage is good. 5. Distributing the ball. 6. Being honest about his performance - even when the coach isn't. I don't want to hear the Henne fluff stuff. Fans are smarter than that. 7. Energy, best summed up by this quote: "Listen to me. Learn from me. I was not the best because I killed quickly. I was the best because the crowd loved me. Win the crowd ...." Quote:Exactly, I'm wanting a General as a qb not a manager. We have had nothing but the latter for so long its depressing. ^ This

Quote:We all want him to play well but what is the one thing you are looking for above all else? I've already seen the most important things from him which are pocket awareness, eye level, and desire. Now I just want to see him show he has the ability to refine the mental aspect of his game. Once he fully understands what is going on around him the way a veteran does he'll be able to play like an elite level guy.

What I wanted to see from I I have already seen, but I look for it to continue to improve and that is pocket awareness. In one of his first few pass attempts he dropped back to pass. The colts blitzed a linebacker who went unblocked and had a free shot at Bortles. Bortles negated that open lane by taking 2 steps to the right in a northerly direction. That little move took away the linebackers free lane and took him out of the play. By the way, after watching Henne all these years I am convinced that would have been a sack.

I want to see him not get hurt. He can't make plays if he isn't on the field.

I don't care what traits he has, as long as he's getting yardage, and putting up points.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
